Blaqk Audio - CexCells Ranked
Part of my AFI ranked project, let's look at Davey and Jade's side project and one of my favorite albums. |
| 14 | | Blaqk Audio CexCells
Where Would You Like Them Left? - the only song here I don't care for/find exceptional in any way, shape, or form. It's not bad. Just nothing special. |
| 13 | | Blaqk Audio CexCells
The Fear of Being Found - Really nice chill vibes from this. Definitely the only track like it on the album and I think the guys do a great job at letting its subtlety shine. |
| 12 | | Blaqk Audio CexCells
Between Breaths - I'd have intercourse to this. |
| 11 | | Blaqk Audio CexCells
Cities of Night - Fuck love, give me fire. sure. |
| 10 | | Blaqk Audio CexCells
The Love Letter - one of the tracks that made me love the duo. A bit overlong, but the chorus is really strong |
| 9 | | Blaqk Audio CexCells
On A Friday - I'd say starting here and above are why I keep this at a 5. Great dance track and a nice powerful ending. |
| 8 | | Blaqk Audio CexCells
Semiotic Love - This song is so sugary and it makes me really happy |
| 7 | | Blaqk Audio CexCells
Stiff Kittens - This song has the objectively best chorus ever. I can prove it too. |
| 6 | | Blaqk Audio CexCells
Snuff on Digital - Every time I hear this I think of flying through the night sky with a lively city below me and thousands of stars surrounding me. Well that's what 9th grade me thought and it kinda stuck for all these years...so yeah. |
| 5 | | Blaqk Audio CexCells
Again, Again, and Again - I just wanna dance forever with this playing in the background. They opened with this the one time I saw them and it was glorious. |
| 4 | | Blaqk Audio CexCells
Wake Up, Open The Door, and Escape To The Sea - honestly probably not as good as a few tracks below it but it's beautiful, somber, and I listened to it a lot when my heart was first broken so points for this. |
| 3 | | Blaqk Audio CexCells
Bitter For Sweet - this song is just downright ambitious. Jade makes a freakin' statement with the intro. This is Blaqk Audio in their prime and as much as I love the dancey stuff and the soft stuff, I wish we got more midtempo killers like this. That bridge just gets me every time. |

Mute - Honestly this sounds like a Sing The Sorrow track. It was written in the early 2000's if I'm correct. This along with bonus track Bite Your Tongue from BBH are the only songs by this group that I feel are epic and it's a really unexpected song when compared to everything else. The chorus is insane and "You fucking lied, but I'm still here" is my favorite "fuck" in music by far. |

Black Electric - This is my favorite vocal performance from Davey. He makes the verse (one of the best vocal melodies I've ever heard) feel so alive and free. The bridge is also a huge standout for BA as a whole. Mute may be the crazier more "out there" track but this one is something special. |
