FullOfSounds
07.06.17 | I'm not a film watcher so I don't have anything to say but nice descriptions |
verdant
07.06.17 | lol i love it sounds, thanks man |
butcherboy
07.06.17 | i thought Me and Earl and the Dying Girl was incredibly charming, and the kid playing Earl was deadpan hilarious.. the Eno-heavy soundtrack was also killer..
if you liked who's afraid of virginia wolf, give Carnage a go.. it's based on a play that's very Albee-esque.. |
verdant
07.06.17 | okay will do ty butcherman |
verdant
07.06.17 | also i am so glad we're on the same page with me and earl, that movie is probably my favourite for the now. i LOVE it |
AsleepInTheBack
07.06.17 | much love for 4 and 14. can't say I know most of these though. I am quite the film scrub |
Winesburgohio
07.06.17 | 6 and 8 are so good, have u read the play of 6? it cuts to the quick
just watched Loveless at an advanced screening and holy shit, i haven't been as unnerved and moved in a long time. definitely deserving of the acclaim it's gonna receive imo |

Archelirion
07.06.17 | Me, Earl and the Dying Girl was legit great. I went in with low expectations and came out amazed. Sad, but amazed.
Only saw In Bruges a few weeks back for the first time. I loved it. Was far, far deeper a film than I ever imagined. |
verdant
07.06.17 | same for Me and Earl
In Bruges was described to me as a 'dark comedy' but fuck me i was not prepared for how dark it was gonna get |
Rowan5215
07.06.17 | Albee is the best playwright of all time imo and The Zoo Story is the most important piece of art I have encountered in my life
gr8 list |
verdant
07.06.17 | thank uuuu rowan, i'm trying to put effort into descriptions bc blank lists annoy me |
Archelirion
07.06.17 | I thought In Bruges was gonna be a silly shit-goes-pop gangster film
I loved the route it went down. Heck, I thought I was gonna cry at one moment. Brendan Gleeson was so good. |
BlushfulHippocrene
07.06.17 | I so need to watch Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf... Been putting it off for ages. Wasn't huge on Memento the second time I watched it, feel like it loses a lot of its charm after its first viewing, the mystery aside. |
verdant
07.06.17 | i love trying to re-wrap my head around memento, and yeah Who's Afraid is trying but rewarding |
Rik VII
07.06.17 | Nice list. 14 is one of my favorites |
Agonba
07.06.17 | nice list
I love "in Bruges" and "Trainspotting"
try "the Guard" |
butcherboy
07.06.17 | yes to what Agonba said! The Guard is amazing, and was actually made by the brother of the director who made In Bruges.. His other film Calvary is also pretty damn amazing.. |

07.06.17 | Cool to see 8 here, seeing that w all my high school friends after reading the book was a pretty cool experience. Love 10 and 11 too, the way you described 10 was cool. I'd rec you 'Me and You and Everyone We Know,' written, directed by and starring Miranda July.. it's sort of an ensemble rom-com thing, but it's surreal and very funny, tho at times in some uncomfortable ways |
BlushfulHippocrene
07.06.17 | The Guard is fantastic! Still need to see Calvary, but Brendan Gleeson and John McDonagh are amazing together. |
zaruyache
07.06.17 | Grand Budapest was so fantastic. |
verdant
07.06.17 | agreed with -- and thankful for -- all of ya |
Papa Universe
07.06.17 | Melancholia might be the only Lars Von Trier film I actually enjoyed fully. Pretty much everything he made, be it artsy pretentious near-porn money wasters, or his godawful Dogma 95 phase, I found to be absolutely atrocious. |
verdant
07.06.17 | tru i don't like Lars by and large, but Melancholia is great and Antichrist is cool too |
