| Metallica Ranked
Hi, everyone! This is my first list ever, so please go easy on me. I'm pretty young too, and I hope you will teach me the right path. Today I'm ranking all Metallica's albums, trying to be the most objective as possible. I usually judge albums using these criteria: -inspiration -production -execution -lyrics. I read all the comments, so, if you don't agree, feel free to express your opinion in the comment section. Thank you for your kindness and...let's begin! | 1 | | Metallica Master of Puppets
Well, this is an easy pick. It's probably one of the best albums ever. I personally can't find any weakness or flaw. | 2 | | Metallica Ride the Lightning
The album that got me into Metallica. Very powerful and complex for the period. | 3 | | Metallica Kill 'em All
Where all began. If only Dave hadn't left... | 4 | | Metallica ...And Justice For All
I'm very angry with Lars here, he ruined an almost perfect album. If I put it in 4th position, it's only for the lacking bass. What a masterpiece could have been... | 5 | | Metallica Metallica
An odd one, Metallica is both loved and hated. It's undoubtly a strong work, but it doesn't quite match the early ones. | 6 | | Metallica Hardwired... to Self-Destruct
"Why did you rate it so high on this list?" you may think. Well, I wasn't sure either. But considering that they're no longer that young and that the last good album was Metallica, Hardwired came as a surprise. At first, I expected a flop from this, but I was so wrong. There are some excellent tracks here. | 7 | | Metallica Death Magnetic
Death Magnetic is probably the most underrated Metallica album. I always hear and read bad reviews of it. I listened to it without prejudice and well, it's not really that bad. | 8 | | Metallica Load
Meh... Quite weak. | 9 | | Metallica Reload
Same thing as Load. | 10 | | Lou Reed and Metallica Lulu
Only Reed's lyrics save the album from an otherwise inevitable 0/10. | 11 | | Metallica St. Anger
Only few albums succeed at being so awful and emotionless. But this may be the definitive champion. Lars is really playing on cans. If offer a beer to anyone that finds a meaning for this. | |

06.27.17 | You'll only get hate from this.
Here's some hate: There's no fucking way that Death Magnetic, the most plastic, uninspired album in their discography, is their most underrated. That title belongs to Load, now and forever.
Also - I still contend that St. Anger has some bangers. I think its an album that they NEEDED to make. Take away the idiotic snare presentation, let James perform as he usually does in the studio, and trim some (maybe a lot) of fat from the songs and you end up with a pretty respectable outing. Frantic and Dirty Window alone are enough to propel this above Lou Reed, and imo, Reload. | Egarran
06.27.17 | I only acknowledge 1,2 and 4. But boy do I acknowledge the fuck out of those.
The other albums are not really relevant, and this is ancient wisdom speaking. You would do well to adopt this point of view. | artiswar
06.27.17 | the fucking Black Album over Death Magnetic? In your dreams guy. At least your top 4 is right. Death Magnetic was the shit back in the day, a comeback from nowhere that was almost too good to be true. | Artuma
06.27.17 | "I'm pretty young too, and I hope you will teach me the right path"
check fugazi | Chortles
06.27.17 | i'm glad guyman set the record straight here | BlownSpeakers
06.27.17 | I think your list is pretty spot on. I personally like Ride the Lightening a little bit more than Master, but both are stone cold masterpieces. I could never get into Kill Em All, it sounds like they're still figuring out their sound. Do love Four Horseman, Seek and Destroy, Motorbreath, and Hit The Lights though. | BlownSpeakers
06.27.17 | I do think Death Magnetic is very underrated, the production doesn't rape my ears like many claim, and I thought it was a solid return to their thrash metal roots. | Brewtality91
06.27.17 | "Where all began. If only Dave hadn't left..."
pretty sure Dave was kicked out... | Egarran
06.27.17 | If you haven't seen Some Kind of Monster, get on it asap. | Brewtality91
06.27.17 | ^^ don't waste your time | tempest--
06.27.17 | "I could never get into Kill Em All, it sounds like they're still figuring out their sound."
I mean they were figuring out the sound of the entire genre of thrash metal........ | Kalopsia
06.27.17 | can we stop considering Lulu to be a Metallica album proper? | Egarran
06.27.17 | Garage Days Re-Revisited deserves a mention. Very fun little album. | neekafat
06.27.17 | Load is 3 | WatchItExplode
06.27.17 | check Camel | CaliggyJack
06.27.17 | Kill 'Em All should be lower and St. Anger should be a bit higher.
Their debut is so overrated | Risodo
06.27.17 | Metallica stopped making music in 1988 after releasing the best album in their discography. | Snake.
06.27.17 | "I'm pretty young too, and I hope you will teach me the right path."
the right path is to stop listening to metal before it's too late | CygnusX1
06.28.17 | List pretty much nailed it. 4 is too true | thefloydios
06.29.17 | Nailed it! Death magnetic is my 5th favorite behind the classic 4. I think if it came out in that era it would be a classic very very underrated |
