| Lars von Trier Ranked
The only correct ranking clearly. | 6 | | Puscifer "V" Is For Vagina
Nyphomaniac Vol 1 & 2
Never actually watched this or plan to because it sounds like the dumbest most pretentious crap I've ever had described to me as a film. | 5 | | AFI Dork
The Idiots
Don’t have much to say about this one as I wasn’t able to make it through. The premise seemed intriguing but the pace and characterizations were really hard to go with. Might have to go back and watch this if enough people say it’s good. | 4 | | Cradle of Filth Cruelty and the Beast
Melancholia
A very intriguing film about depression and the end of the world. The middle act is really drawn out and beats you over the head but the inevitable conclusion is as striking as it is poignant. | 3 | | Nightwish Oceanborn
Dancer In The Dark
Holy crap a lot has been said about this movie. I’m very conflicted about it, on the one hand the movie is kind of a contrived mess filled with naked unashamed manipulation of the audience in order to hammer home the over-the-top melodrama to the point where it’s actually quite easy to poke fun at all the ridiculous plot-holes. On the other hand, the story at the film’s core is very sweet and touching, and Bjork, oh my god Bjork. I Love her oh so much in this to the point where I’ll forgive the film’s numerous faults. | 2 | | Marilyn Manson Antichrist Superstar
Antichrist
One of the most powerful and uncomfortable films about the most horrible and personal grief imaginable, a parent losing a child. This on top of themes of primordial misogyny and mental illness as well as several horrifying can’t-ever-unsee moments, and you have the cinematic equivalent of that 1920’s razor-blade through-the-eyball gif. | 1 | | Alice in Chains Alice in Chains
Dogville
One of the best films I’ve ever seen hands down. I was so lost and confused when it started but by the end it felt like my heart had been ripped out. An extremely hard-to-watch film about township mentality and the sick truths underneath the facades that we can normalize and justify if enough people are willing to go with it. It also utilized one of the most brilliant gimmicks I've ever seen in a film, and the ensemble cast is insane. | |

06.17.17 | "Nymphomaniac is just as good as Antichrist"
Disagreed so hard, thought Antichrist was fantastic, and Nymphomaniac was great at times, but mostly not. | butcherboy
06.17.17 | Nymphomaniac could have been something.. I don't think his vision panned out.. that being said, Dogville isn't as good as it seems either.. I prefer melancholia frankly, but in a short overblown filmography, Antichrist is the only wall-to-wall good movie he managed.. | artiswar
06.17.17 | Ah shit I forgot about A Royal Affair with Mads Mikkelsen... | MyNameIsPencil
06.17.17 | you forgot Breaking the Waves. | Jots
06.17.17 | missing his best stuff | porcupinetheater
06.17.17 | So you've watched four of his movies front to back and decide it's time to get ranking?
Also the director's cut of Nymphomaniac kills | Kalopsia
06.18.17 | you haven't even watched/finished a third of the movies you're making a list about?
...... great job man. | artiswar
06.18.17 | I know he has quite a few films but most people haven't even seen his classics. I might edit the list once I've seen the rest, but the top 3 ain't budging no matter how good his other films may be and those are the ones that I saw recently and needed to vent about. Sorry I've let you all down chaps. I will now commit list seppuku |
