Went To A Free Rise Against Show
Like fuck man...it was FREE. You really can't compete with free. This is one of my favorite bands and exactly a week ago from now I definitely would have expected to be doing this with my life. Hell, I didn't know til Saturday that I was going. The show was great and The Violence sounded sick live. They played two others. Wolves seems promising, but it wasn't too special and Welcome To The Breakdown had a pretty punky verse but a lame chorus. Anyway I couldn't decide between ranking their soft tracks and ranking their closers so I did both... |
| 11 | | Rise Against Siren Song of the Counter Culture
SOFTIES: Swing Life Away - I definitely like this song but I think all of their others are so much more interesting. It's cute doe. |
| 10 | | Rise Against Appeal to Reason
Hero of War - This song is good and super nostalgic but nothing too amazing. I feel like this song gets criticized lyrically but I never really understood that since they are pretty coherent and paint a strong picture. |
| 9 | | Rise Against The Black Market
People Live Here - I think this song could have been huge for them like Everchanging, Swing Life Away, or Hero of War if it came out at a different time. It's definitely better than 2 of the latter. I really like the lyrics and I think it sends a pretty powerful message. Just another reason why this album is underrated. |
| 8 | | Rise Against The Unraveling
Everchanging (acoustic) - had to include this since it's essentially it's own song completely separate from the original. It's beautiful and definitely hits dem feels. One of my favorite choruses from these guys. |
| 7 | | Rise Against The Sufferer and the Witness
Roadside - This song is so beautiful but it's way too short. Like I swear, I think they just flat out forgot to add the 2nd line of the first chorus ("and I don't know how we separate the lies here from the truth") to either of the other two choruses because whenever I thought of the song in my head I always just added it in anyway until one day it dawned on me that it never actually repeated. I understand maybe the 2nd chorus not having it but the last one? Blasphemous. They had to have just forgotten, right? Regardless easily one of my favorite songs of all time, I could listen to it for hours. |
| 6 | | Rise Against Revolutions per Minute
CLOSERS: Amber Changing - This is a great song but probably the only closer that isn't in my top 3 on each respective album. The chorus makes me happy though. |
| 5 | | Rise Against Appeal to Reason
Whereabouts Unknown - From here and above, all of these are in my top 15 RA songs which is pretty crazy. |
| 4 | | Rise Against Endgame
Endgame - That intro gets me so pumped. This is probably the most different sounding closer than the rest of them because of the chorus but it's amazing. |
| 3 | | Rise Against The Black Market
Bridges - This song grew on me immensely. Like damn, I'd say it's an easy top 10 song by them for me and it always gets better. This album as a whole just kind of gives off a washed-out vibe and that may be the only thing holding this song back but it's definitely well written and has one of the best choruses this band has ever done. Here's hoping their next closer is right up there with this one. |
| 2 | | Rise Against Siren Song of the Counter Culture
Rumors of My Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated - 2nd favorite song by this band. The bridge is intense and that last chorus is perfect. |
| 1 | | Rise Against The Sufferer and the Witness
Survive - One of my all time favorite songs. This is the band writing songs at their best. Such great energy and them lyrics are definitely so widely relatable. This album as a whole is why these guys will always be one of my favorite bands. |
