Top 12 Favorite Bands

Warning: Human with their own opinion! Do not judge harshly and don't expect any Black Metal here, OK? And why top 12? I couldn't decide on a top 10. Honorable mentions: Testament, Anthrax, Disturbed, and The Offspring.
12Linkin Park

This is my nostalgia entry. The band that got me into metal and I will probably like for most of my life. Nu Metal or electronica, I enjoy their material, with the exception of A Thousand Suns. Call me an uneducated noob all you want, but nostalgia will still win.
11DragonForce

Speed and Power metal at its cheesiest, DragonForce combines speed shredding and soaring vocals to great effect. It's a guilty pleasure and I stand by it because sometimes it is just good to have some fun every now and again.
10Slipknot

The intro into more extreme forms of metal for me, there first 3 albums are still great. They have managed to keep a fresh-ish sound that has given them a huge fan base.
9Avenged Sevenfold

From metalcore to more traditional heavy metal, A7x is an enjoyable to listen to. The Stage, Waking the Fallen, and City of Evil are great albums that I can listen to on repeat, a lot. While it might not be the shred levels of some earlier entries, I easily find enjoyment in listening to these guys.
8Slayer

SLAYYYEEERRRRRR! Nuff said.
7Dream Theater

A bit more of a recent listen, I only just started getting into these guys about a month ago (sad, ain't it?) and I was blown away by the sheer musicianship each of the members posses. A varying sound between each album and Portnoy's shredding ability is legendary.
6Sum 41

I just love this band's early music. Leaders of Pop-Punk while having a bit more of a metal edge as seen Does This Look Infected and Chuck, Sum 41 is just enjoyable to listen to and that's why they are here on the list. They are up this high simply because enjoy this a bit easier in public.
5Metallica

Even more cliched than Iron Maiden, old Metallica still stands as great even today. While the 2000's weren't kind to those who enjoy the band, but there is still solace to find in the greats of Kill 'Em All through the Black Album.
4Rise Against

The first non-metal band on this list, Rise Against are a Melodic Hardcore band that never fail to impress me. While the music might not be as technically demanding, it is enjoyable in its simplicity and solid writing skills. We give it all ;)
3Meshuggah

These guys have been making ears bleed for ages. One of the godfathers of djent, you can't deny their impact or their awesomeness. Meshuggah is just amazing and I can only wish to be as talented as these guys on le guitar.
2Megadeth

My favorite of the big 4 of thrash metal. Despite the revolving cast, they have, for the most part, remained quite good and Rust in Peace still stands as one of the best metal albums to date, in my mind. Also, they finally won a Grammy, so that's also nice.
1Iron Maiden

I know, how stereotypical, but they have released a large amount of incredible albums that are still good TO THIS DAY. Besides, who can forget the wonders known as Number of the Beast or Powerslave?
