| Top 12 Favorite Bands
Warning: Human with their own opinion! Do not judge harshly and don't expect any Black Metal here, OK? And why top 12? I couldn't decide on a top 10. Honorable mentions: Testament, Anthrax, Disturbed, and The Offspring. | | 12 | Linkin Park
This is my nostalgia entry. The band that got me into metal and I will probably like for most of my life. Nu Metal or electronica, I enjoy their material, with the exception of A Thousand Suns. Call me an uneducated noob all you want, but nostalgia will still win. | | 11 | DragonForce
Speed and Power metal at its cheesiest, DragonForce combines speed shredding and soaring vocals to great effect. It's a guilty pleasure and I stand by it because sometimes it is just good to have some fun every now and again. | | 10 | Slipknot
The intro into more extreme forms of metal for me, there first 3 albums are still great. They have managed to keep a fresh-ish sound that has given them a huge fan base. | | 9 | Avenged Sevenfold
From metalcore to more traditional heavy metal, A7x is an enjoyable to listen to. The Stage, Waking the Fallen, and City of Evil are great albums that I can listen to on repeat, a lot. While it might not be the shred levels of some earlier entries, I easily find enjoyment in listening to these guys. | | 8 | Slayer
SLAYYYEEERRRRRR! Nuff said. | | 7 | Dream Theater
A bit more of a recent listen, I only just started getting into these guys about a month ago (sad, ain't it?) and I was blown away by the sheer musicianship each of the members posses. A varying sound between each album and Portnoy's shredding ability is legendary. | | 6 | Sum 41
I just love this band's early music. Leaders of Pop-Punk while having a bit more of a metal edge as seen Does This Look Infected and Chuck, Sum 41 is just enjoyable to listen to and that's why they are here on the list. They are up this high simply because enjoy this a bit easier in public. | | 5 | Metallica
Even more cliched than Iron Maiden, old Metallica still stands as great even today. While the 2000's weren't kind to those who enjoy the band, but there is still solace to find in the greats of Kill 'Em All through the Black Album. | | 4 | Rise Against
The first non-metal band on this list, Rise Against are a Melodic Hardcore band that never fail to impress me. While the music might not be as technically demanding, it is enjoyable in its simplicity and solid writing skills. We give it all ;) | | 3 | Meshuggah
These guys have been making ears bleed for ages. One of the godfathers of djent, you can't deny their impact or their awesomeness. Meshuggah is just amazing and I can only wish to be as talented as these guys on le guitar. | | 2 | Megadeth
My favorite of the big 4 of thrash metal. Despite the revolving cast, they have, for the most part, remained quite good and Rust in Peace still stands as one of the best metal albums to date, in my mind. Also, they finally won a Grammy, so that's also nice. | | 1 | Iron Maiden
I know, how stereotypical, but they have released a large amount of incredible albums that are still good TO THIS DAY. Besides, who can forget the wonders known as Number of the Beast or Powerslave? | |

02.14.17 | Some of these are good. Not to be rude but don't use "I'm a teen" as an excuse, a lot of sputters have been listening to black metal since they were born. I personally got into black metal when I was maybe 14. | Snake.
02.14.17 | dragonforce lol god | neekafat
02.14.17 | "I enjoy their material, with the exception of A Thousand Suns. Call me an uneducated noob all you want"
You're an uneducated noob for not liking A Thousand Suns but liking the rest of their stuff | danielito19
02.14.17 | As someone who grew up in Iowa FUCK slipknot. Every time you mention you like metal "Oh I had dinner with (x member of slipknot) once he knows my banker and he's so cool he said fuck and my parents weren't even mad" | WhatKeepsMeHere
02.14.17 | I think you'll come to realize that nothing is forever. Your tastes will inevitably change. Hardcore and metal are still super important to me and hopefully always will be, but you will find "new loves" in the music world and others will fade. My favorites growing up went from blink-182 and Sum 41 to Metallica, Pantera, and Megadeth. Only 2 of those bands stuck with me. I am pretty happy to see that teenagers are still listening to gateway bands that will lead to so much musical discovery | onionbubs
02.14.17 | Plenty of gateway bands stick around. Plenty don't. Either way everyone starts somewhere
4 rules hard | danielito19
02.14.17 | Yeah not gonna lie I still jam some rise against from time to time | EphemeralEternity
02.14.17 | i'm gonna go ahead and say this is an alt | DinosaurJones
02.14.17 | Meh, I'm in my late 20s and I'm still not that into metal. | EphemeralEternity
02.14.17 | meshuggah is definitely the aberration here but it means there's still hope for the lad | SteveOffProbation
02.14.17 | where's whom | 50iL
02.14.17 | "I am a teen, so don't expect any black metal"
I'm 14 and love to listen to BM. This isn't an excuse for anything, you could've just said you dont dig black metal and that's it lol. | SitruK6
02.14.17 | You should delete the part about black metal in the description.
| Joeman82

The other guy, Kmanoc, is an irl friend who I actually got into metal via LP, so yeah. | Snake.
02.15.17 | "The other guy, Kmanoc, is an irl friend"
i honestly don't understand how a website like this can actually convince new users to recommend their friends join, especially when their first review gets massively shit on | Snake.
02.15.17 | but i guess that's the moral of the story here, don't let your friends join this site or you'll run the risk of exposing their butthurt bitchmade comment-deleting personality to an open music forum like a total fucking ass | Snake.
02.15.17 | oh and for future reference, this CowboyInTheShell guy is a troll and should never be taken 100% seriously | Dewinged
02.15.17 | I don't even know where to start with you Cowboy, not the first time I see you trying to troll users on this site. Keep your cool and respect other users' taste and opinions. | Snake.
02.15.17 | ok i literally just said he was a troll what part of that did you miss | Dewinged
02.15.17 | I was writing my comment when you already had posted yours Snake, but believe me, I didn't miss anything. The guy is a low level troll threat, boring and harmless. | NorwichScene
02.15.17 | I struggle to name 12 as most the bands I like have awesome and some shit albums. I would say my top 10 (not in order):
Blink182 (1999 - 2003)
Every Time I Die
Fightstar
Flood of Red
Jimmy Eat World
Linkin Park
Senses Fail
Silverstein
The Amity Affliction
UnderĂ˜ath
