post sludge prog

Mainly trying to think of a band, but also looking for recommendations because I've been listening to Spotify playlists of prog/tech-deth-prog songs and it all sounds so fucking happy and trendy and weak. Looking for more heavy prog that isn't just more djent or frivolous fretboard shit. Also: does anyone know a band that's released a debut of 2 long songs and had a mix of sludge and post metal influences? They even had some violin and a lot of clean vocals. I can't remember the name for the life of me. All this venturing into prog and post-metal makes me want to give 'em another shot. Also: no Opeth. I can't stand Opeth. List is in no particular order.
1Dirge
Wings of Lead Over Dormant Seas

Used to nap so hard to this shit and bang my head while it played on long drives home from working at UPS.
2Oceansize
Self Preserved While The Bodies Float Up

I wish they made heavier music, or even just another album, but all the same I think of them as the perfect prog band.
3Mastodon
Crack the Skye

To be perfectly honest, I'm having a hard time NOT calling this the best prog album I've ever heard.
4SUMAC
What One Becomes

They played in Glendale last year at the Complex when this album dropped and oh my fuck it is my favorite album of 2016 across all genres.
5Mouth of the Architect
Quietly

Another classic joint I loved back in the day. I don't hate their newer stuff, but this gave that perfect mix of emotional intensity and sonic beauty that really defined the post-metal genre.
6Kayo Dot
Choirs of the Eye

Really the only Kayo Dot album I listen to. The rest I just don't get.
7Cult of Luna
Somewhere Along the Highway

One of the albums that really got me into post-metal. I can throw this on at just about any point and give it at least a few rotations. "Back to Chapel Town" is one of my favorite post-metal songs. Hell, it's one of my favorite metal songs period -- lyrics and all.
8maudlin of the Well
Bath

My friend tried to get me into them for the longest and once I stopped being a little bitch about it, I came to love it. Toby Driver, if you're reading this, please repress this lovely album.
9Botch
An Anthology of Dead Ends

No list of heavy music is complete without this album.
10Meshuggah
obZen

I still don't consider it djent. I don't know what I'd consider it actually.
