02.08.17 | alright sput, what are your favorite string quartets? I really like these but don't feel like I've heard enough yet to declare what my favorites are | Gwyn.
02.08.17 | Arditti string quartet | Gwyn.
02.08.17 | The Alban Berg Quartett did some amazing interpretations of Schubert's music too, you should check them out if you haven't | Atari
02.08.17 | thanks man. alban berg quartet sounds familiar but pretty sure I haven't heard Arditti string quartet. if you have any specific pieces that'd be swell too | Gwyn.
02.08.17 | I actually uploaded a full Alban Berg Quartett interpretation of Schubert's "Rosamunde" on youtube, you can listen to it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K351DNoQdqY
As for the Arditti Quartet, it depends, their work is typically far more esoteric and challenging than anything you'll find on this list so I'm not sure if they'd be to your taste, but I'm personally a huge fan of their work with Iannis Xenakis' (The best classical composer of the 20th century, in my opinion) compositions, here's one of my favorites: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OAAJvaKx5c
For something somewhat less intimidating, you could listen to some of their work for Schoenberg's quartets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrQo5CbiJ5c | Shadowmire
02.08.17 | Beethoven's 14th, Schoenberg's 4th, Bartok's 6th, Shostakovich's 15th | DrMaximus

02.08.17 | Sin regina spektor starting playing classical music including Chopin at a really young age on the piano, a ton of her playing is inspired by the old geezers you speak of ;) let that sink in for a minute | Zig
02.08.17 | Shostakovitch - No. 8;
Debussy - SQ in G minor, Op. 10;
Webern - SQ, Op. 28; Schoenberg - No. 3. (if you're into atonal stuff)
Earle Brown's SQ, John Cage's SQ in four parts, also like these two, but John Zorn's The String Quartets is total madness. | TheEnigma
