The Wraith - "True Faith": https://youtu.be/mf2fV-QuxkY
The latest music video and probably my favourite of the batch. Both the song and film are '80s essentials, so they fit together beautifully in my opinion. | 2 | | Ray Charles Ray Charles
The Iron Giant - "Ain't That Love": https://youtu.be/TRLQiEx-YlE
Got clever with this one because Ray does have a song in the film, but I decided on "Ain't That Love" since it came out in 1957 (which is the same year the film is set in). Can't get enough of this film and it's still my favourite animated film of all-time. | 3 | | Filter The Amalgamut
John Wick - "So I Quit": https://youtu.be/ZSBDLdOuo9c
For years I've wanted to make a music video out of this song, so seeing John Wick again a few weeks back was a real delight since it seemed to run smoothly alongside this fast-paced, profanity-laced rock song. A great action/revenge film and I can't wait for Chapter 2. | 4 | | Red End of Silence
Take Shelter - "Break Me Down": https://youtu.be/cgTUWQ7dr8I
Easily my favourite film on this list and what I would currently call the finest movie I've ever experienced. The acting is staggering and naturalistic throughout, the nightmare sequences are haunting and the ending is powerful. I love this film, so I was weary about making it into a music video, but I think this song goes well with it, and I'm very happy I took the chance on it. | 5 | | Elvis Costello This Year's Model
HyperNormalisation - "Night Rally": https://youtu.be/ItW9PpdtcIk
My friend actually wanted me to make this music video. Originally I was going to say no, since it was a political concept and I'm not much into politics, but I was intrigued by the challenge, and I love Elvis Costello as well. This documentary from Adam Curtis is easily one of the greatest films of 2016 and I highly recommend it to anyone willing to put up with the subject matter held within. | 6 | | Sevendust Home
Suicide Squad - "Licking Cream" (feat. Skin): https://youtu.be/HSdRlsfwv8A
Onto the comic-book films. I wanted to make the below two videos the most, so this one felt like it was out of necessity just to make it a trilogy of DC-related music videos featuring Sevendust on all tracks. I didn't hate this movie, but it's definitely a mess and I don't really care to see it again anytime soon. | 7 | | Sevendust Chapter VII: Hope and Sorrow
Man of Steel - "Hope" (feat. Mark Tremonti): https://youtu.be/k0JXD81j_dc
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - "Sorrow" (feat. Myles Kennedy): https://youtu.be/Ca-lNcmiqyY
Two-in-one to close out this list. "Hope" was a music video I had planned for years, and, ironically, it ended up being the one music video that gave me the most headache looking back in hindsight. I'm still happy with how it turned out, but you'll notice clear moments of digital noise throughout if you watch it. "Sorrow", however, I couldn't be happier with how that turned out. The song really captured the emotional content of the film really well and I couldn't believe it was just a month or two ago that I figured out how well both would work together (since I had planned the "Hope" video for years in-advance). Anyhow, these are my music videos, I hope you guys enjoy them, and let me know what you think I should do in the future. | |
