CDs I got for Christmas

Not a bad haul for an old guy. The Coldplay and Fleetwood Mac are DVD/CD combos. Also got a concert DVD of Procol Harum and documentary DVDs of Fleetwood Mac and Pink Floyd.
1Beach House
Thank Your Lucky Stars

Missed this one when it came out. Wasn't looking for it because Beach House had already put out "Depression Cherry" earlier in the year.
2Coldplay
Ghost Stories Live 2014

A DVD/CD combo. A very beautiful and laid back performance. Unfortunately, after driving home from upstate all day yesterday, my wife and I made the mistake of putting on this DVD last night in lieu of watching any of the hideous New Year's Eve countdown shows, and let's just say it's not exactly party music.
3The Dubliners
The Very Best of the Original Dubliners

Playing catch up with this one. I'm a huge fan of Celtic music, including folk, traditional, pub songs and Celtic rock, but somehow I've never owned anything by The Dubliners. Until now.
4Fleetwood Mac
Live in Boston (2004)

Another DVD/CD set. Should have definitely watched this one instead of the Coldplay for New Year's Eve. Haven't seen it yet, but I'm sure it's a little livelier.
5The Irish Rovers
The Best of the Irish Rovers

Another seminal Celtic music band I've never owned an album of before. For me, Christmas is a time of plugging up the holes in my music collection.
6Emily Kinney
This Is War

If you've been wondering what the actress who played Beth on "The Walking Dead" has been up to since that Nurse Ratched-like cop offed her on the show, it's this -- she's a folk pop singer, and a pretty good one. She has a sweet voice and some clever lyrics. I liked her last album, so I'm looking forward to this one.
7Mannheim Steamroller
Christmas Symphony II

Their first couple of Christmas CDs were among the best ones out there; their last few, not so much. I'm hoping for a recovery of their early form with this one.
8Neck Deep
Life's Not Out To Get You

I know some of you who have bothered to read this list are thinking, "Finally! Something that rocks at least a little." Unfortunately, the only reason this one was on my wish list is because of the one track that really stood out for me on their last album, "Candour", which was the only slow ballad on the album. Sorry about that.
9Quadriga Consort
On a Cold Winter's Day

Every year, I have to have at least a little new Christmas music. So with this one and the Mannheim Steamroller album, I've already got next Christmas taken care of.
10Isao Tomita
Snowflakes Are Dancing

This album blew me away when I first heard it back in the '70s. It was my first introduction to the music of Debussy. I'm not a huge classical music fan, but his synthesized versions made it a more palatable introduction for me. An absolutely beautiful album.
11Isao Tomita
The Tomita Planets

Tomita does Holst. Sadly, Isao Tomita was another of the many great musical talents who passed away in 2016. R.I.P. Isao.
12The Tourists (UK)
Greatest Hits

A comp from the band that spawned Eurythmics. I used to own some of their stuff on vinyl, but not anymore. Barely remember their sound, but I think I liked them. This should help remind me.
