Top 10 Of 2008... Thus Far

I still need to hear Steinski, Opeth, The Bug, Shearwater and some other ones, but yep, here's my thoughts thus far.
1Bon Iver
For Emma, Forever Ago

Absolutely gorgeous, simple album. Favourite of the year so far.
2Fleet Foxes
Fleet Foxes

Really great stuff. At first I felt as though the latter half of the album dragged a bit compared to the first four songs. However the second half is growing on me more and more, Meadowlark is beautiful.
3The Dodos
Visiter

It's fun, unique, interesting... It's great.
4 Sigur Ros
Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust

Certainly not their best. In fact it's probably their worst after Von. Still, it's Sigur Ros, I can't help but like it. Can't wait to see these guys in Toronto.
5Sun Kil Moon
April

I found this album better then Ghosts of the Lost Highway. It's less repetitive and the guitar work is a little more interesting (ie. Blue Orchids).
Album holds several of many favourite tracks so far this year. (Lucky Man, Like the River, Blue Orchids.)
6The Flashbulb
Soundtrack to a Vacant Life

Lots of variation. Sort of a cross between Aphex Twin, Stars of the Lid and Venetian Snares. With some minimalistic instrumental features. Cool stuff
7Death Cab for Cutie
Narrow Stairs

Groups second best effort after Transatlanticism. Bixby Canyon Bridge is an excellent opener.
8 Islands
Arm's Way

Indie Prog? Your name isn't Colin Meloy. It's fun, and interesting.
9Protest the Hero
Fortress

I actually hate putting this on here. I don't really even like this album. But what can I say, it was the ninth best album I heard so far this year.
10 Kayo Dot
Blue Lambancy Downward

Epically disappointing for their standards. Still, it was good enough to round out the top ten.
