My new EP is up for free download and stream. It's called "Year of the Whopper", and is inspired by "Infinite Jest" by David Foster Wallace. All vocals, lyrics, and music by me. I do use a few samples, which are listed below. https://abensmith.bandcamp.com/album/year-of-the-whopper-ep | 1 | | Soundgarden Badmotorfinger
"Lengthy Description of a Ball Rolling" contains a sample from "Jesus Christ Pose". | 2 | | Radiohead Pablo Honey

"Mt. Dilaudid" contains a sample from "Dream House". | |

12.30.16 | not my thing at all personally, but props to you for doing what you enjoy and making music. | UpSimbaX
12.31.16 | Thanks! My lack of vocal range and using Garageband kind of limit what I can do, but I enjoy doing it anyway. | BeyondCosby
12.31.16 | I'm not sure it works. To me, it feels disjointed and lacking focus. I haven't read Infinite Jest, so I can't really give you feedback on that, but it just seems odd. Take the first song for instance. When the rest of the album is hip-hop it doesn't make sense to have it start that way because it doesn't establish the tone. And on the second song you have this spoken word which, I assume, is taken from the text that talks about a man who is living his life wanting more but has succumbed to the feeling of emptiness of those around him. Wouldn't he then read it in a dispassionate way and not as excitedly as you do? Just some thoughts moving forward. | UpSimbaX
12.31.16 | Thank you for the comments. The book is kind of disjointed (At least I feel), so some of that was intentional. The spoken word on the second track is actually my writing, but I see the point, I didn't intend to sound excited but I've heard that a couple times now. | BeyondCosby
12.31.16 | Yeah man, not trying to discourage you or anything just hoping to provide some constructive feedback. If, in the future, you have anything you want opinions on before or after a release just let me know! |
