My ten favourite jams this year

The year is coming to an end and it is time to sum up what are in my opinion the best albums I've heard during the course of this year (for the first time, that is). Not everything on here was released in 2016; it's simply a list of the best "new" music I've heard this year. Albums are ranked in no particular order.
1David Bowie
Blackstar

It goes without saying that this is one of the best albums released this year. And only days before his passing.
2Santana
Santana IV

This was a breath of fresh air and true return to form. Much better than the shitty albums that preceded this in the 2000s.
3Kamelot
Haven

Never got around to hearing this until this year, even though this was released in 2015. Slightly better than Silverthorn imo.
4Paul Wardingham
The Human Affliction

Great instrumental melodeath album. This is a guy with a lot of talent, but without the proper recognition.
5Ariana Grande
Dangerous Woman

One of the best pop records to have come out this year.
6Seal
7

Not sure why people don't dig this more, but I personally find it very soothing to listen to.
7Devin Townsend Project
Transcendence

One of the few artists I know that has a good grasp of the pop metal sound. Another great release by Devin to be sure.
8Neurotech
Symphonies

Managed to squeeze this one in just before the end of the year. Loved it.
9Selena Gomez
Revival (Deluxe)

I probably like this more than I should, but I really enjoy this for some reason. It's definitely a step above her last album.
10Solution .45
Nightmares in the Waking State, Pt. 2

The first part of this two-part album sucked, but the second was actually quite good. My overwhelming interest in this band and this genre has all but faded over the years, however I couldn't resist giving this a listen. Certainly not the best melodeath, but it's one of the more interesting things I've heard this year and I've had quite a lot of fun listening to it. I'd say this one just barely made the list.
