11.29.16 | when it snows here in new mexico people freak the fuck out. as someone hardened by decades of soul-crushing michigan winters it's pretty hilarious to watch. |

is this a new concept for you? |
guitarded_chuck
11.29.16 | im stoked for some snow days, they are the fucking best
especially those days when it snows overnight way more than anticipated and you get a random stay inside and ill day |
Artuma
11.29.16 | "is this a new concept for you?"
yes this is a new concept for me. how much snow do you get there? like up to your shoulders or something? |
guitarded_chuck
11.29.16 | without snow tires or 4x4 anything more than like 5cm and its p dangerous to drive
schools get closed here if its about 15cm or more, which happens i dunno 5ish times a winter on average |
onionbubs
11.29.16 | Helllllllll yea 8 is siiiiick |
Satellite
11.29.16 | i live in a mountainous desert region now. we get snow occasionally because of the elevation but it never sticks (at least not since i've lived here). but the ppl here are soft af so classes are canceled due to snow every now and then.
but i was born in michigan and there we get lake effect snow that sometimes is up to 3-4 feet and once in a great while even more. snow days were rarely fun because we'd spend all day shoveling the driveway.
tl;dr no and yes |
guitarded_chuck
11.29.16 | 8 is sick yeah
so is 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 13 |
guitarded_chuck
11.29.16 | yeah shoveling was a bitch if it was a lot but im in an apartment now so dont have to do shit, let is snow |

11.29.16 | still in the 40-50's in Wisconsin, no snow in sight, where you at |
Artuma
11.29.16 | "schools get closed here if its about 15cm or more"
hahahaha. sure i get it it's dangerous to drive with summer tires in the winter but can't you prepare a little? here we have a law that you need to have winter tires by dec 1st or something |
Artuma
11.29.16 | shoveling sucks when you're in a rush but otherwise it's good exercise |
Satellite
11.29.16 | not when you live like a quarter mile back in the woods. fuck that shit. |
Satellite
11.29.16 | also ftr it's not like snow days are super common, even in the harshest winters. schools have a limit on the number of snow days they can take without having to make them up at the end of the year. it's not like schools are closing because of light flurries. |
guitarded_chuck
11.29.16 | "hahahaha. sure i get it it's dangerous to drive with summer tires in the winter but can't you prepare a little? here we have a law that you need to have winter tires by dec 1st or something"
depends dude. if the roads and sidewalks dont get plowed it just doesnt make sense to have little kids walking to school. people don't know how to fucking drive at the best of times |
guitarded_chuck
11.29.16 | btw where do you live art, im in halifax, i dont think theres a law on snow tires not sure tbh |
wham49
11.29.16 | break earlier and pump, and take wider turns it is not rocket science, or get a 4x4 like I have for the nice long north woods winters we have here |
guitarded_chuck
11.29.16 | i have a 4x4 too i go out in the worst storms just for fun but its the other retards that are the problem, i live on a steep hill and you can literally just sit in the window and watch these people fishtailing down it all day if theres some snow or ice down, its hilarious but yeah you wouldnt want to risk your little 6 year old dodging cars just to so they can go to school for a few hours and do coloring books, makes no sense |
Satellite
11.29.16 | yeah you definitely shouldn't pump your brakes if you've got ABS, which if your car was made in the past 20 years, you absolutely do. |
Cygnatti
11.29.16 | @artuma, dude we get like less than 5-10 cm of snow and everywhere is canceled.
...don't get me started with north carolina... 2 cm snow -> state emergency. |

11.29.16 | Enjoy! I live in Houston, tx it's like 75 outside right now and we haven't had snow in almost 10 years |

"In Europe, requirements for snow tires vary by country: in Andorra, Austria,[17] Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg,[18] Montenegro,[19] Norway, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Sweden, the use of snow tires is a legal requirement during winter months (usually November to mid-April) or if snow or slush is present on road surfaces" - Wikipedia |

same thing. we rarely even get a white christmas anymore but then again, in jan/feb it's a fucking hell with the snow and the coldness |
Artuma
11.29.16 | still though, we've never cancelled school because of snow |
guitarded_chuck
11.29.16 | as a kid there was about a 50% chance thered be snow on the ground at christmas and id say now its more like 25%
last year was a bit of an anomaly but it was 18 degrees on xmas day, i went to chill at my buddies house for a bit and we were literally on his back deck in a tshirt
jan feb still a guaranteed snowmagedon tho yeh |
adr
11.29.16 | I've heard it's really cold in Canada during the winter, can't imagine what's in Finland then lol. I don't think we've cancelled school because of snow either, but if it's get around -20C or something it gets cancelled, which is very rare anyway. |
