| 10 Fantastic Film Scores
10 film scores to check out | 1 | | Clint Mansel The Fountain
I can only describe The Fountain in one way, organic. It's always in a constant state of motion, it almost feels alive. Clint was able to give the score a life; even if you don't see the movie, you can feel where it's going regardless. The Kronos Quartet are on the top of their game, and Mogwai, though very under-used, added to the mix in a chilling way. | 2 | | Hans Zimmer The Last Samurai
I will say this now, Hans Zimmer is my god; The Last Samurai is my bible. Hans' use of strings is elegant and the brass is haunting. | 3 | | Craig Armstrong The Incredible Hulk (2 Disc)
Rich, frightening, romantic, Craig was able to roll every type of emotion in to this score. The use of the "Lonely Man" theme was genius | 4 | | Eric Serra The Fifth Element
A diffrent type of score, it almost feels techno in some parts. A majority of the soundtrack still bleeds orginality | 5 | | Steve Jablonsky Transformers
Though it sounds a bit like "Armageddon" on occasion, the Transformer's score has a certain sound that makes the world feel at stake. you can almost imagine Prime and Megatron going at it when listening. | 6 | | Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard Batman Begins
Intensity oozes in the revamped Batman soundtrack. There's no heroic theme to parade around this time. It's all about convaying the inner struggles of Batman and it plays masterfully | 7 | | Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard The Dark Knight
Though not as good as Batman Begins, the duo still is able to explore w/ their sound. This time they're shooting to make you terrified. The Joker's theme is chilling in every sense, you almost feel like Trent Reznor is performing. They make it sound like the rule for Gotham is really at hand | 8 | | John Murphy Sunshine
It pisses me off that this is still unreleased. Epic is what it is, the fate of the world balances on 8 people finishing their mission to the sun. that in itself is epic, going to the sun. the score adds the weight of that goal immensly | 9 | | Nathan Johnson Brick
A very unique soundtrack, every instrument sounds like it was found in your garage with its clicks and clanks. Though each track is short, they all have their own quality to a bigger picture | 10 | | Hans Zimmer Gladiator
A Man's Man movie, comes w/ a man's man soundtrack. battles, devisation, and betryal are all portrayed in Hans' score | |

08.22.08 | Tyler Bates- 300. Most epic and inspiring score ever. I've heard most of Hans Zimmer's work on this list and is very impressive. 5 is cool too. But Pirates Of The Carribean: Curse Of The Black Pearl rules face. | brandtweathers
08.22.08 | where's glass? | PayneTiger777
08.22.08 | I just got 7 not too long ago and I have enjoyed it a lot. I have a recommendation even though it is not from a movie. I recently got the Metal Gear Solid 4 soundtrack and it is really amazing. There are two discs and 47 songs total but every single song is awesome. | Polaris
08.22.08 | My favorite film score is Last of The Mohicans. Probably my favorite movie also. | Joeeddstealschickens
08.22.08 | No Enrico Morrione? As a fan of cowboy films i'd put this straight in. Also I really like the guy that does Tim Burton's scoring. A lot of it sounds similarish admittedly but he compliments the style of Burton's films really well. | ninjuice
08.22.08 | Too much Hans Zimmer and no John Williams means this list fails.
Zimmer's work doesn't compare to Newton Howard, Shore, or Williams' stuff.
Martin O' Donnell is better too. | natey
08.22.08 | Zimmer blows except in 10 | ToWhatEnd
08.22.08 | Danny Elfman nerd = I
4-7 are legit though. | cjbrett22
12.04.08 | good list. Zimmer is definitely a god at film scores. Some of his other best scores are The Crimson Tide and Rain Man, not to mention the Lion King.
You missed out any scores by James Horner though. That guy is a genius. Especially his score for Titanic. That one is utterly phenomenal. |
