DGD Mothership Ranked
Could have called this list AOTY ranked too |
13 | | Dance Gavin Dance Mothership
"Deception" - I liked this a lot more on the first few listens. It's still a really solid song, but I think it lacks something that really stands out about it. |
12 | | Dance Gavin Dance Mothership
"Chocolate Jakelope" - Honestly the first part of this song, minus the awesome intro riff, is what kills this song for me. The wtf-second section is actually pretty awesome and unique. But both vocal lines from both Jon and Tilian just do nothing for me and I'm not sure why. But the second half rules so all is well. |
11 | | Dance Gavin Dance Mothership
"Petting Zoo Justice" - Honestly from this track to about 7 is pretty loosely ranked. All are about even. I liked this track a lot on first listen, neglected it a bit, but now I love it again. Seriously heavy stuff. |
10 | | Dance Gavin Dance Mothership
"Chucky Vs The Giant Tortoise" - What a perfect first single. This showcased the noticeably increased synergy from Tilian and Jon compared to their past outings. This song eliminated any fear I had of them rushing this album and the fact that there are still plenty of songs that are of this caliber or greater is unbelievable. |
9 | | Dance Gavin Dance Mothership
"Flossie Dickey Bounce" - Ummm cocaine. That is all. But seriously, super fun first half and some really great moments from Tilian in the second. |
8 | | Dance Gavin Dance Mothership
"Betrayed By The Game" - One of the poppiest songs in this band's discography. But Tilian just sounds so great paired with that super tight riff. And that ending section is wonderful. |
7 | | Dance Gavin Dance Mothership
"Philosopher King" - Extremely heavy and it also has some of the best clean melodies on the album. |
6 | | Dance Gavin Dance Mothership
"Young Robot" - this song has one of the best grooves on the album and I could listen to it all day. |
5 | | Dance Gavin Dance Mothership
"Inspire The Liars" - I'd say all of the songs from here on are at least in my top 15 favorite DGD songs of all time. Although the first part of this song is fantastic, the whole end section is beautiful. |
4 | | Dance Gavin Dance Mothership
"Exposed" - Not sure if it's just the fact that there is no screaming, but this reminds me of SS pt 2. There's something so honest about Tilian's voice here. The chorus is definitely what makes this as good as it is. |
3 | | Dance Gavin Dance Mothership
"Frozen One" - Probably the punchiest and catchiest on the album. I think this is a great representation song for this era of DGD. "Stop that you ain't no friend of mine, we don't believe your lies..." is one of the best melodies this band has ever constructed. Easily one of this band's best songs. |
2 | | Dance Gavin Dance Mothership
"Here Comes The Winner" - The "it's here, it's right there" part is Tilians best vocal moment on the album. Like damn. In fact this might be his overall best performance on the album. |
1 | | Dance Gavin Dance Mothership
"Man of the Year" - This feels like everything great about the last 2 closers finally being fully realized here. It has some of the heaviest parts on the album and it just feels like the most epic song DGD could have pulled out. I think the outro is a bit lacking (compared to not only the rest of the song, but other outros on this album) but everything before that is incredible. Possibly my favorite song by this band |
