| Pop Rocks And Coke
Been digging these Pop Rock/Pop-Punk albums lately. And drinking lots of soda, which in Texas is referred to as Coke no matter what flavor it is. | | 1 | | Jimmy Eat World Futures
#'s 1 and 2 are on my actual 'digs' list currently. "Futures" is my favorite Jimmy Eat World album, hands down. | | 2 | | Mae The Everglow
As if I need to keep talking about these guys. Wish they'd put out another album in this vein; I've already got "Futures" so I didn't need "Singularity." | | 3 | | Anberlin Cities
I've actually been listening to all of their c.d.'s lately, but this one the most. I think 'Godspeed' is my favorite Anberlin song. | | 4 | | Coldplay Viva La Vida
I don't even own this c.d.; I have to listen to it on YouTube and iheartmusic. Still, I love it, and if I make a "Best-Of" list at the end of the year, it'll probably be on it. | | 5 | | Guster Lost And Gone Forever
Interesting band. Love some of the harmonies, and love the congo's. "Barrel of a Gun" has been constantly playing ever since I got this c.d. | | 6 | | Get Up Kids Something To Write Home About
"There's room to believe--out of sight, out of mind, out of reach; start over...there's no way to begin..." | | 7 | | Days Away Mapping an Invisible World
I will continue to whore this band until someone else can give an honest opinion of them. They're relatively unknown, and this is their only full-length album, but they sound like they're veterans at the top of their game. I've been listening to this c.d. a bit more lately, thanks to this pop-rock phase I'm going through spearheaded by JEW and Mae. GREAT pop-rock band, IMO. | | 8 | | Fair The Best Worst-Case Scenario
If you go to Tooth & Nail's website, you'll find the usual big bands (UnderOath, mewithout You, Anberlin, etc.)...but you also might find some great bands that hardly get any attention at all: Starflyer 59, Showbread, Far-Less, and these guys, among others. Aaron Sprinkle (the producer for a lot of those bands) fronts it, and they craft some nice, soft Pop-Rock stuff. "Carelessness," in particular, is an amazingly beautiful song IMO. They're coming out with a new c.d. soon, as well...can't wait! | |

08.17.08 | I wonder if the list title has been used recently by someone else? | SynGates

08.17.08 | LOL, I know how that goes! But there's a good mix of music out here if you know where to look (i. e. you have to sit through Hell Yeah to hear Fair To Midland)
I know a few people from HS who went to SFA, but I don't know whether any of them are still there because we graduated in '05... | SnackaryBinx
08.18.08 | it's called soda. freak.
Futures is my favorite JEW album too. | Doppelganger
08.18.08 | anything other than "soda" enrages me | citizeninsane
08.18.08 | haha...yeah....i know how that goes. im pretty much alone in my music taste around here. its either really bad rap or really bad country. ha!.... but its all good. ax'em jacks! | Masochist
08.18.08 | It usually goes something like this:
-"You thirsty? I got Cokes in the fridge...."
-"Yeah, I am. What do you have?"
-"Dr. Pepper, Sprite and Orange Soda."
-"I'll take a D.P."
...and that's how that goes. I've never actually heard someone call it 'pop', though....'soda pop', yeah; 'pop', no.
And thanks, SnackaryBinx, for actually commenting on the music in the list....(also, thanks citizen for the convo ;-)...). | The Jungler
08.18.08 | get up kids album rules. |
