Overlooked 2016 Gems

pls listen to these
1Medevil
Conductor of Storms

A darky, thrashy traditional metal record with "Fear of the Dark"-era Bruce Dickinson on vocals. Best debut album of the year; "An Empty Glass and "The Angel of Rain" are highlights.
2Rimfrost
Rimfrost

It's Immortal worship, but it's Immortal worship done just about perfectly.
3Spellcaster
Night Hides the World

Sick traditional/power metal with tight basslines. The bookends, "Aria" and "Prophecy," are fanatstic.
4Colosso
Obnoxious

Groovy, immediate melodeath. The first track in particular is superb.
5King Goat
Conduit

Probably my second favorite debut album of the year; an eclectic doom-ish sound with a unique vocalist and excellent songwriting.
6Sunburst
Fragments of Creation

Catchy, aggressive power metal with some awesome choruses and melodies.
7Cybernetic Witch Cult
Spaceous Cretaceous

This one is really weird, but it's a hell of a good time. Surprisingly solid songwriting, instrumentation, and vocals. Stoner rock fans will find a lot to like here.
8Mandroid Echostar
Coral Throne

2016 has been a superb year for post-hardcore, but one of the year's very best didn't garner much attention at all. There are some killer melodies on this thing, most notably on "Violet Skies" and Sacred Fire, some of my favorite songs of the year. Sounds a lot like a heavier Coheed, mainly due to the vocalist.
9Ondt Blod
Finnmark

This one is just some badass, accesible foreign hardcore. Good gym music, good ass-kicking music.
