Latest Purchases/Pick-Ups (Vinyl)
So it goes...waxy. What have you folks picked up lately? Any recs? |
| 1 | | Adventures/Pity Sex Split
Opaque Orange w/ White. Pixies cover and Turning Point cover. Not bad. |
| 2 | | City Slang Sonic Crime Wave
Black. This is actually the City Slang EP. They remind me a bit of DB though. Will add an entry later. |
| 3 | | Coronary Coronary
Opaque Yellow/Brown. This is actually the Coronary s/t. They're a band from Chicago that rips face and reminds me of Chris C. projects (Cursed/Burning Love) with a hint of spastic Charles Bronson wailing. |
| 4 | | Descendents Hypercaffium Spazzinate
White. The cover printing glows, which is kinda neat. The record is probably one of my least favourite releases by them, but it's still pretty good. |
| 5 | | The Gotobeds Blood // Sugar // Secs // Traffic
Opaque Yellow/Brown/Black. This is the new Gotobeds full-length. Not on here either, huh? Well, they remind me a bit of the golden era of GoF. Will put in the Sputbank as well. |
| 6 | | Government Warning Executed
Black. The final release by these Richmond hardcore revivalists (If I'm not mistaken). My favourite hardcore band from the aughts. It's a shame they'll probably never play again. |
| 7 | | Guitar Wolf T-Rex From A Tiny Space Yojouhan
Black. This is actually the new "T-Rex..." full-length from this year. It's Guitar Wolf, so you know it rips. Will add to the Sputbank. |
| 8 | | Horace Pinker Burn Tempe To The Ground
Black. This is actually "Burn Tempe To The Ground". 90s pop-punk with a hint of wistful 90s post-hardcore. Will add. |
| 9 | | Hot Water Music Till the Wheels Fall Off
Trans. Blue. Bought mostly for the compilation tracks from Plea For Peace and all that. It's a shame they use the cover art for the "Where We Belong" EP, but they omit the track itself (They even placed the B-Side track on it! Argh. Why!?) |
| 10 | | Japanese Breakfast Psychopomp
Black. If I placed this on another list, I apologise. This record is great. |
| 11 | | Merel Merel
Black. This is actually the Merel "s/t" EP. Jersey early emo with zany goodness. Will add. |
| 12 | | Mikoto Mikoto
This is actually the "s/t" EP. Ray Harkins belting out early aughts metalcore with the "sing-songy", "heartfelt" breakdowns and such. I dig it and all, but loads of bands were doing this around said period. I'm more surprised it's on Level Plane. How peculiar. Will add. |
| 13 | | Russian Circles Guidance
Black. I dig it more than "Memorial". |
| 14 | | Sunny Day Real Estate How It Feels To Be Something On
Opaque Orange. Subpop reissue. Not my favourite SDRE release, but still solid. |
| 15 | | Typesetter 5
Purple. Alright, so it's not vinyl or "Wild's End". It's a tape EP, but it's really freaking good. Like Hot Water Music ramping on some Texas Is The Reason good. Will add. |
| 16 | | The Vandals Fear of a Punk Planet
Black. Goof punk |
| 17 | | The Vandals Hitler Bad, Vandals Good
Black. This is the split with Assorted Jelly Beans. It's aight. Adds, I guess? |
| 18 | | The Vandals Quickening
Trans. Green. My favourite record by these nogoodnicks. |
| 19 | | Youth Brigade (CA) To Sell the Truth
Black. This is actually the split with Screw 32. Features my favourite songs of each band. Adds. |
| 20 | | Hot Cross Cryonics
Black. Super stoked to finally come across this gem. It's ex-members of most good screamo bands of the late-nineties. I'm sure some fans of the EP and Saetia may cry foul with this release, but I think it's solid. |
| 21 | | Charles Mingus Mingus Ah Um
Black. Class of '59 classic. |
| 22 | | G.L.O.S.S. Trans Day Of Revenge
Black. Chances are if you listen to modern hardcore, you've already heard this. |
| 23 | | Sinaloa Footprints On Floorboards
Black. Bassless rootsy emo that seems to float about. |
| 24 | | The Nation of Ulysses The Embassy Tapes
Black. The Nation is great! |
| 25 | | Bear vs. Shark Terrorhawk
Clear. This is actually the double reissue from EVR. I needed a wax copy of "Terrorhawk", so Yo! |
| 26 | | Weekend Nachos Unforgivable
Trans. Blue. Pulverise! |
| 27 | | Mahavishnu Orchestra Visions of the Emerald Beyond
Black. A little too funky for me, at times. Still packs the red-hot guitar licks though. |
| 28 | | Government Warning Arrested
Opaque Pink. This band rules(ed). |
