Bands (i Feel) Peaked At Their 1st/2nd Release

Bands that, in my opinion, peaked at their debut, or sophomore release (for bands that have been around a bit longer).
1Norma jean

Bless The Martyr was a wonderfully raw album. O' God The Aftermath was definitely more technical, but it felt like the same wall of noise almost the entire time. Their past two have just been overproduced, underwhelming, and uninspired.
2Atreyu

Now I'll be the first to admit, Atreyu was never amazing to begin with, but when Suicide Notes & Butterfly Kisses came out, it was one of the first albums that got me into heavier music. The Curse was decent, A Deathgrip On Yesterday was barely passable, and then they signed to the same label as Hannah Montana (as if Victory wasn't bad enough) Well, I think we all know about the musical turd they laid recently...
3Chiodos

Apparently I am one of the very few around here who enjoys Craig Owens' voice. Anyway, All's Well That Ends Well was a highly enjoyable listen, though it kind of dragged in the middle a bit. Bone Palace Ballet, with the exception of two or three songs, seems like a horrid attempt at appealing to the Fall Out Boy/Panic! At The Disco crowd (they will always have the ! in my mind). To put it simply, its one of the most overproduced albums I have heard in my life.
4Saosin

Two words...Anthony Green. I can deal with Cove (even though his live performances are a rather lackluster experience) but it even seems like the band lost some of its composition ability with the departure of Green. Hopefully they get it back together on the next record...
5He Is Legend

Why oh why do bands think southern rock is cool again? I mean sure, its fun sometimes, but its over. Nobody has tried to bring disco into hardcore or anything...why don't we just let sleeping dogs lie. (I'm all for combining genres, but I've lost all hope that anybody will get the metal/southern rock combo right anytime soon)
6Tera Melos

I love all of Tera Melos' albums, really I do. It just kind of seems like they've really lost their edge lately. I mean the music is technical as crap, but compared to their debut, it just doesn't seem as daring anymore...
7The Blood Brothers

Basically same as above. This Adultery Is Ripe was so unique and raw, and while I love Crimes and Burn Piano Island, Burn, it just doesn't hold up.
8From First To Last

Dear Diary was a fun mix of screamo with pop punk flavoring, and while Heroine was certainly more mature, something just felt a bit off. And then Sonny left, and so did the songwriting ability...
9Avenged Sevenfold

Sounding The Seventh Trumpet/Waking The Fallen were really enjoyable modern metal albums. City of Evil, while highly overproduced, had its moments. The new album though...dear God the new album...Once a metal band starts wearing grilz...(intentionally misspelled to mimic the shear ridiculousness)
10The Used

Their Self Titled just had so much power and flare. In Love And Death had some alright tracks, but for the most part felt bland and it didn't measure up to the debut. Their new album is yet again another great example of how overproduction can ruin a band.
