Drumming Inspirations

Today marks the two year anniversary of when I bought my drums. To celebrate I'm listing all of my favorite drummers. List unranked
1Nirvana
In Utero

David Grohl- this dude made me wanna become a percussionist in the first place. His raw drumming talent, his intricate yet somehow incredibly accessible drumming made a huge impression on me and I strive to be like him in terms of what I do.
2Weezer
Pinkerton

Patrick Wilson- this guy helped me realize that not every song I played on had to be a drum solo. I know now that it's okay to just play the simple backbeat and let my guitarist's songwriting come through.
3Blink-182
Blink-182

Travis Barker- up until recently, this guy has blown me away on nearly every track I've heard him on. Intricate beats, incredible fills, and a perfect combination of hip hop and punk makes him one of my favorite drummers and one of my idols. If only I could be like this guy
4Saosin
Saosin

Alex Rodriguez- one of the more technical drummers I know of. Dude's a beast on record and always blows me away with his work. Plus his style's unique enough that I can always pinpoint who he is on a record.
5Radiohead
In Rainbows

Philip Selway- my all time favorite drummer, this guy is simply incredible. Everything he does is perfect. Incredibly versatile and willing to switch from an acoustic kit to an electric one with hardly a blink of an eye. Also his ability to make the most of a hi hat, kick, and snare combo astounds me every time.
6Say Anything
...Is a Real Boy

Coby Linder- dude's got some of the most intricate drum work I've heard in the whole pop punk and indie rock genres and I've only heard this record!
7Twenty One Pilots
Vessel

Joshua Dun- probably my second favorite drummer, as his work is always really great and his versatility always shines on the stuff he's featured on. I even taught myself how to play drums using his work on this album as a template.
8Fightstar
Behind the Devil's Back

Omar Abidi- I love this guy for the same reasons I love Alex Rodriguez's work. He's intricate, fun to listen to, and has a unique style that easy to pinpoint. Also it's because of Omar and Alex I picked up a double kick pedal.
9Death Cab for Cutie
Transatlanticism

Jason McGerr- dude can make even simplistic beats feel jazzy and complicated, and he's a super nice guy too.
10Blur
13

Dave Rowntree- slower yet intricate drum work that never tried to steal the spotlight. Not much else to say but he's the drummer to one of my favorite bands, so how could I not love his work?
11Muse
Absolution

Dominic Howard- dude's unique in that he's one of only a few left handed drummers, and seeing as I'm left handed too, I relate to that. Plus his work is some of the most fun to play along to. Just look at hysteria or assassin as an example
