08.04.16 | here we go boyz |
claygurnz
08.04.16 | 9 is way too low and I'm not a big Dio fan. First two are in the right order though. |
JamieTwort
08.04.16 | Dio-era albums above some of the first 6 = terrible ranking |
miketunneyiscool123
08.04.16 | Sorry Jamie, but upon first listen of Heaven And Hell a while back, I was instantly hooked. |
Ocean of Noise
08.04.16 | In what way does Sabotage "show some withering of their once legendary formula"? It sounds completely different from the previous albums. |
miketunneyiscool123
08.04.16 | @Ocean That's the point. Their legendary formula is "never making the same album twice," but I feel that album showed signs of weakness towards their appeal for synthesizers and shit. I respect the changes but don't personally like all of it. |
Typhoon24
08.04.16 | I love master of reality and all..but don't the riffs feel a little recycled from paranoid?
(braces self) |
miketunneyiscool123
08.04.16 | @Typhoon I get where you're going with that, but what examples do you have to support that assumption? |
Typhoon24
08.04.16 | lord of this world's riffs feel a lot like a mix of iron man and war pigs. the solo feels like a follow up to war pigs. sweet leaf and after forever, too, but to a lesser degree...I really like those songs but I feel black sabbath already did "that" on their last album
children of the grave and the rest are a lot more original
|
NeroCorleone80
08.04.16 | first 6 > |
claygurnz
08.04.16 | 11 is 7 tbh |
miketunneyiscool123
08.04.16 | I can see "Sweet Leaf" as far as the "Iron Man" comparison, and I can see the "After Forever" comparison to "War Pigs," but you should also realized how similar riffs and songs can be even as early as those times. "Master of Puppets" and "One" riffs can be heard in hundreds of songs, but some of those songs are strong or unique enough to compensate for it. Such is the case for Sabbath too. Their material on both albums was strong and unique enough on their own to be differentiated from each other if a bit similar in parts. |
Typhoon24
08.04.16 | yeah, im sure looking back 45 years after an album came out and saying that an album they released a year prior sounds too similar is a little unfair. especially when they created the rubric.
still though, gotta make interesting conversation somehow |
DominionMM1
08.04.16 | vol 4 at #9? psh |
miketunneyiscool123
08.04.16 | It's still a good observation though, and I've always noticed the comparison of "Sweet Leaf" and "Iron Man." That outro of "Iron Man" is like a career highlight imo. |
miketunneyiscool123
08.04.16 | @Typhoon I think I should be the one bracing myself because of my ranking for Dio's records. I even ranked H&H above their s/t for crying out loud. haha |
Typhoon24
08.04.16 | lol I liked it more too |
ArsMoriendi
08.04.16 | "i love you for having 1 and 2 correct bro"
ALA, you've only heard 3 Sabbath records shhh
Also Sabotage is way too low and is amazing because it was trying to be different and it worked. |
DoofusWainwright
08.04.16 | 5 is my favourite but, and don't laugh, I've never listened to all of the debut in one sitting so it could be top
11 I found very average so guess I don't need to feel guilty not having listened to anything below that |
miketunneyiscool123
08.04.16 | @Ars Anything within the top 8 is still an easy 4/5 imo so I don't feel it's that low.
@Doofus You haven't heard the whole thing? Damn you're missing out dude. I'm not in love with 11 either although it's their best since their Dio days imo.
So I adjusted the list just a tad bit to make it more fair, but I still hold firm with certain albums. |
chipperjones
08.04.16 | Agree with the order of the early "ozzy" albums |
miketunneyiscool123
08.04.16 | @chipperjones Without a doubt, 1, 2, and 3 will stay in that order imo, but Heaven And Hell isn't far behind because it kicks serious ass. |
wham49
08.05.16 | do I need to really make a comment to 4 and 6. depressing; how the F are the better than V4, disgrace |
miketunneyiscool123
08.05.16 | @wham as good as the highs are on Vol. 4, Heaven And Hell kicks so much ass. Every song rules, and it's got the title track and Neon Nights for god sake. Still debating if I like Mob Rules better than Vol. 4, but right now I do. |
ShadowRemains
08.05.16 | heaven and hell rules, it's up there in the first 6, mob rules isn't better than sabotage and vol 4 though |
miketunneyiscool123
08.05.16 | @Shadow I might change that part of this ranking because it's difficult for me to rank those particular three records (Mob, Vol.4, and Sabotage). |
NeroCorleone80
08.05.16 | 1 > 2 > 7 > 5 > 3 > 8 |
wham49
08.05.16 | sorry Mike disagree, H&H is a very good album, but I look at it as a DIo solo album with a ridiculously great backing band, when I hear it, that is what I think; "this is a Dio album not a Sabbath album"
and their is no way Mob is even close to V4 or Sabotage, not even close |
miketunneyiscool123
08.06.16 | @wham Maybe I like Mob Rules because I like H&H, and H&H instantly clicked despite sounding like a different band. |
NeroCorleone80
08.06.16 | description for 7 is complete ass |
JamieTwort
08.06.16 | His reasoning was even more ridiculous.
"That's the point. Their legendary formula is "never making the same album twice," but I feel that album showed signs of weakness towards their appeal for synthesizers and shit. I respect the changes but don't personally like all of it."
Talk about contradicting yourself. |
SIIMBOLIC
08.06.16 | well there goez the cred |
JamieTwort
08.06.16 | What cred? |
SIIMBOLIC
08.06.16 | wel snox isnt interested so whats left???? |
JamieTwort
08.06.16 | I was implying that the list had no credibility to begin with. |
NeroCorleone80
08.06.16 | Originally he even had Dehumaziner over Vol 4 |
miketunneyiscool123
08.07.16 | @Jamie and Nero Talk about condescending of others views of the Sabbath discography...assholes. |
Shadowmire
08.07.16 | its ok dude heaven and hell is fantastic
1 is 1 also |
miketunneyiscool123
08.07.16 | @Shadow I feel t/t alone is top 5 Sabbath songs ever. |
Shadowmire
08.07.16 | easily |
