| Favorite Guitarists *edit
My List of favorite guitarists, most have influenced my playing in one way or another. Note:ive put this up before, but ive fixed a few things and added reasons. so please, just enjoy. and guys, keep the flamming from number 4 to a minimum please :D | | 1 | Chris Cheney
If you don't know, his from the living end, probably my favorite guitarist ever. just listen to the man if you haven't already. check out carry me home, How do we Know, Closing In. Hell check any song out. | | 2 | K.K Downing & Glenn Tipton
You cant really have one without the other. they are a perfect twin attack | | 3 | Matt Belamy
Fairly original, doesn't shred everywhere, and comes up with very simple, yet interest riffs and ideas. | | 4 | Billie Joe Armstrong
DON'T KILL ME PLEASE! but i would like to see anyone else construct catchy as hell pop rock songs without needing to solo everywhere. a personal favorite and master of powerchords. he knows his powerchords and chooses them well. | | 5 | Slash
Love him or hate him, his great, with even greater rock moves. just watch november rain | | 6 | Brian Setzer
Guy from the stray cats, great guitar work and a breathe of fresh air when i listen to too much metal. | | 7 | Eddie Van Halen
again, love him or hate him. | | 8 | Adrian Smith/Dave Murray/Janik Gers
Its Iron Maiden. all these 3 players left their mark in the band at one stage or another. | |
Ironpriest
08.12.08 | i know people say no hendrix! no page! etc.
please realise i love these guitarists, but the 8 i included are my very top, and ones who i look too for influence in my playing. cheers.
btw feel free to state some of your favorites. | billy33
08.12.08 | well done on 1, he is good.
I'd have Mark Hosking from Karnivool in there as well, he wrote some awesome riffs and dill all the drums for Themata ('vools debut), the mans a freak.
Also Leigh Davies from Sleep Parade plays with his teeth live, thats cool. | billy33
08.12.08 | wait not Mark Hosking, i meant Drew Goddard, Hosking is the other vool guitarist | Jim
08.12.08 | lol hey billy i've seen darren from powderfinger play with his teeth. he was rubbish though
chris cheney is an excellent guitarist and so much energy. you need some david gilmour though | billy33
08.12.08 | yeah but leigh sings as well. | Thor
08.12.08 | i know my power chords too | raggedragamuffin
08.12.08 | chris cheney ftw
when i saw him play at the warped tour last year i was in the front row, and soloed using a beer bottled to push down on the frets instead of his fingers, and he didn't miss a single note. it was amazing! | P13
08.12.08 | a monkey could pick powerchords well. and it would me more interesting than a greenday song. | Mendigo
08.12.08 | with your comments I understand the whole list even less. if you wanna put people in your favourite guitarists list who can "construct catchy as hell pop rock songs without needing to solo everywhere" and know their powerchords, this list would be kinda endless. :/
however, I recommend you to listen to something McLaughin played on. against him all of those here look like schoolkids desparatly trying to get something admissible out of their guitars. | Masochist
08.12.08 | I like Green Day, as well, but I'll take you up on your challenge: if you want someone who can right catchy as hell pop-rock songs without solos anywhere, try Brett Gruewitz of Bad Religion.
Anyways, Matt Belamy is an interesting guitarist. I rather like some of the more cliched guitarists: Hendrix, John Petrucci, John Mayer (as a guitarist)...but I also like Kyle Gass of Tenacious D, who STILL doesn't get the recognition he deserves IMO.

08.12.08 | If we're talking about pop-punk here.
Bobby Darling blows 4 out of the water. | fireaboveicebelow
08.12.08 | slash is so overrated but setzer is great | mneilrvviannsa
08.12.08 | cant pick between bellamy and slash from this list. tom morello is my fav | Spamue1G
08.18.08 | 1- THANK YOU! He's also one of my favourite guitarists ever.
For the most part I like Slash, although in GnR he shows off too much without really contributing to the song. I hate Van Halen though, but he is a good guitarist. | SylentEcho
11.04.08 | George Harrisson, Eric Clapton, Chris Witchhunter, Remo Broggi etc etc? | inflames666
11.26.08 | saying slash doesnt contribute to the song? thats probably the stupidest thing i have ever heard | ATYCLB18
12.04.08 | The Edge- U2, Brilliant Guitar player. |
