| Top 5 Hip-Hop Tracks of 2015.
Hip-Hop/ Rap songs that were exceptional and made 2015 a great year for Hip-Hop lovers worldwide. | | 1 | | Kendrick Lamar Mortal Man
This epic conclusion to Kendrick's critically acclaimed album, TPAB, is made up of dense lyrics and a laid back jazzy production dealing with many black American civil rights activist and one African leader that either lost their life in the process of challenging the "system", or were left unappreciated when they outlived their revolution i.e Jesse Jackson, or worse yet were framed and left in the dark by their contemporaries i.e Michael Jackson. Overall, It is song filled with dense lyrics like we all expect from Kendrick. Pimp, pimp, hooray!! | | 2 | | Pusha T Intro
The "Intro", which is the first song off Pusha T's critically acclaimed prelude album appropriately titled " King Push- Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude", is a classic King Push song filled with drug dealer rhymes over a booming trap beat. I mean, what-else could one want from G.O.O.D music's golden child. Woo!! | | 3 | | Future March Madness
This was the song that made a proud member of the "FutureHive". March Madness is the epitome of what a great trap song can be with its beautiful combination of trap rap cliches (i.e killer beats) and mild socially conscious lyrics. This song made it loud and clear that you can make your bass speakers scream while still not being entirely hedonistic. BTW, fuck Desiigner! There can only be one Future Hendrix. | | 4 | | Travis Scott 90210
Both this song and the album it is featured on won me over to Travis Scott's music. I was previously a proud, card carrying Travis Scott hater because of numerous reasons I could spend a whole day discussing, however this song, like the entire album, made me appreciate Travis ability to curate various producers to craft a unique trap sound. Travis Scott's trap sound is more layered than the average trap beat you hear on the radio, with influences stemming from electronic and rock music. | | 5 | | Lupe Fiasco Body of Work
A few years back Lupe Fiasco occupied the space Kendrick Lamar currently occupies, which is lyrical hip-hop filled with social consciousness while having mainstream appeal. However, over the years Lupe made some pretty bad artistic decisions on certain albums and his stock fell off. Well, now he is back with a BANG! This track off his latest stellar album, Tetsuo & Youth, is a most listen to lovers of Lupe's old music and lyrically abilities. | |
