06.04.16 | it has to do with consistency/variation/something. if you always hand out the same ratings (for example, if 500 out of 600 of your ratings are all 4/5s) then it'll affect your variance. in theory, if you had the same amount of 1s as 1.5s as 2s [...] as 4.5s as 5s, you'd probably have a decent variance I guess
I think it's sigma squared... I don't remember the formula, but you could test it if you felt so inclined. macman probably already has though as I'm typing this | macman76
