April/May Record Pick-Ups
The struggle continues. My wallet is empty. My heart is full. My stomach is partially full.
Anybody know when that Saetia reissue is hitting distros? I need that yesterday. Any cool releases you're looking forward to? |
1 | | Aeges The Bridge
Opaque Brown. This is the "Roach" EP. Not sure if I listed it last time? If not, it's aight and bears repeating. Riffy post-hardcore that'd appeal to fans of Handsome/Quicksand. |
2 | | Aesop Rock None Shall Pass
Black. Stoked to finally get my hands on a decent copy of this Def Jux treasure. If I'm not mistaken, this is the final Aes LP to feature Blockhead production (As of now). |
3 | | Aesop Rock The Impossible Kid
Opaque Green & Pink. I dug Skelethon, but I'm definitely more into this one. |
4 | | City of Caterpillar City of Caterpillar
Clear. Repeater Records reissue. Definitely glad this finally got a reissue. Can't wait to drop the needle on it. Thanks for the heads up on it Mort! |
5 | | Dag Nasty Cold Heart b/w Wanting Nothing
Black. This is actually the "Cold Heart" EP from this year. Both songs are great and remind me of the more subdued Swiz numbers (Not just due to the Shawn Brown factor). I'm going to add this one to the database in a bit. |
6 | | Deerhoof Offend Maggie
White. Another quirky mess by Deerhoof. |
7 | | Deftones Gore
White. Not sure if I listed this before? It's a Deftones record with Sergio Vega. I'm on board. |
8 | | Dowsing Okay
Black. This is actually "Okay". Fun pop-punk that flirts with the lighter side of post-hardcore (Not dissimilar to Typesetter and newer Hot Water Music). |
9 | | The Falcon Gather Up the Chaps
Opaque Pink. That record release show was a blast! |
10 | | Metz Metz II
Opaque Green/Grey. This is actually the Mission of Burma/Metz split. |
11 | | Mind Spiders Prosthesis
Black. They stray a bit more from the Marked Men-ish pop-punk formula with each release, and I love it! Don't get me wrong, I dig MM too - but this wacky synthed-out post-punk mixed with pop-punk is pretty rad too. |
12 | | Pity Sex White Hot Moon
Trans. Electric Blue w/ White Splatter. Boosted production really gives these folks the opportunity to shine through on this release. Perhaps, I was just ready to receive this one from the get-go (Unlike their last full-length. It took awhile to grow on me). |
13 | | Slapstick Slapstick
Black & White. Collection of fun adolescent third-wave ska jams. I couldn't say "No". There's probably something wrong with me. |
14 | | White Lung Paradise
Black. They're still here, and I'm all-rightski with that. |
15 | | Youth Code A Place To Stand
Black. Snagged at their SubT show. Modern industrial that's pretty neato. |
16 | | Youth Code Commitment to Complications
Black. Reminds me of the glory days of Wax Trax. Good stuff. |
17 | | No Statik We All Die In The End
Trans. Purple. Speedy hardcore from some of the folks in Look Back and Laugh. |
