| When Pretentious Bands/Artists, Actually Deliver
WARNING! This list is totally subjective. | 1 | | Angels and Airwaves The Dream Walker
I won't deny, I'm a Tom Delonge fanboy. But this doesn't go without saying that I know he's over the top. Especially when he said that Angels and Airwaves would change Rock forever. However, I liked his previous work, but never as much as what he did with Blink-182. The Dream Walker was probably the biggest surprise for me in 2014. I wouldn't say the album is perfect by any means, but boy does it show what Tom can do when he taps into his true potential and drops the space rock act. | 2 | | Giles Corey Giles Corey
Listen to "Deconstruction", and then this. You'll wonder how he managed to make something so wonderful, then return and take a shit on himself. | 3 | | Guns N' Roses Chinese Democracy
After Slash left, I was absolutely dreading what was in store now that Axl Rose was going to run amuck. Even though this might be debatable, I found this album to be highly enjoyable. Especially the track "Better". Still a gem. | 4 | | Smashing Pumpkins Adore
Let's not consider the utter masterpieces that were released prior to this. instead, let's consider this as the precursor to the mountains of crap that Corgan released after "Adore". Another debatable album, but I found this to be the example of when "experimenting" goes right. I'm quite fond of this, but also find it depressing to know that it was the beginning stages of Corgan's evolution into pretentious territory. | 5 | | Puscifer "V" Is For Vagina
Maynard.. he has a wide range of talent, that I've often seen him squander on thinking too big. But, give this album a listen if you haven't already.. The track, "Momma Sed", shows some of Maynard's true potential. | |
