Roadburn 2016 Best Sets and Misses.

FINALLY made it to Roadburn this year. Incredible festival with great people. Generally sweet rooms with superb sound. Will be making it back next year for sure. With a better strategy as to not miss so much good shit.
1Neurosis
Through Silver in Blood

Sometimes you have to count yourself lucky to have been alive when certain musicians or bands where. Neurosis for me is the top of that list. The 30 year Anniversary sets included tracks of EVERY album. They still look like absolute monsters on stage and at nearly 50 years old still give EVERYTHING on stage. A once in a lifetime band. They finished on the second night with 'The tide' The doorway' stretching those crushing endings a few minutes longer. Incredible.
2Dark Buddha Rising
Inversum

Friday was generally a let down so I put all my hopes on DBR saving the day. They did and then some. Massive sound. Completely immersive. And one of the most talked about sets of the weekend.
3Hell
III

Late night in the Patronaat. My feet and back where killing me after my first 7 hours watching bands. Hell helped me through it. Was the closest thing to seeing Thou without it being Thou. Incredbile set.
4Amenra
Mass III

Amenra are my favourite band outside of Neurosis. The played a normal and acoustic set. I give them so much respect for playing an acoustic set in the main room before Neurosis to a room full of drunk people. There was talking but considering its a 3000 capacity room it was relatively quiet. Their 'Normal' set was phenomenal as always. I have so much pain and memories tied up with this band that it crushes me live. Ive seen them better. But they are never anything less than fantastic live.
5Converge
Axe to Fall

I just hoped Converge would play 'wretched world' at the blood moon show. Not only did they play it but Chelsea Wolfe sang it! The Jane doe set in its entirety was the shit. I felt 19 again. But seeing Wolfe,Von Till, Bordsky all on stage with them doing material you dont always hear was something else.
6Buried at Sea
Migration

They had to follow Neurosis FFS. Thankless task. I was practically done at that point. And went outside to chat to some people when I came in Buried at sea sounded heavy than both Amenra and Neurosis. Crushed. Unfortunately my head was all over the place by then and I kept drifting in and out.
7Usnea
Random Cosmic Violence

Usnea where the first band I saw of the 4 days I was really looking forward too. They were really good, all though the growls didnt really carry over live as strong was still a solid set.
8Oranssi Pazuzu

Of all the stuff I missed this set was what you kept hearing people talk about. The queue was absolutely ridiculous to get into an allready full 650 capacity room. Pretty gutted.
9Chaos Echoes
Tone of Things to Come

Another one I missed despite playing TWICE. I cant remember the first reasosn, second time I tried to get in and was in a corrider near the womens toilets. Dont want to get arrested for that again.
10Misthyrming

2 sets clashed with Converge. This is pretty poor planning for me. Two of your bigger names (artist in residence and converge) clash twice and both are doing 2 different sets. I also missed the whole Nadra/Misthyrming/Myip-Ulfmessa 90 minute collab because I went to get a burger after DBR and couldnt get back in.
