03.28.16 | G.I.S.M. - M.A.N. may or may not intrigue you. It's like 80's Japanese hardcore + Discharge meets straight heavy metal like Maiden. |
Mort.
03.28.16 | from what ive heard its Hogans Heroes, but ive never actually checked them out. think i added them to the database tho |

03.28.16 | What don't you like about new Starkweather? |
Mort.
03.28.16 | New starkweather does suck agreed
Never been a fan of them tho tbh |
Sevengill
03.28.16 | Huh, I've always figured Slaughter of the Soul laid the groundwork for metalcore, even if it's still melodeath. Gonna have to look through these. |
Mort.
03.28.16 | na there is defo a subsection of metalcore that was directly inspired and influenced by melodeath but a lot of it has really nothing to do with that scene |
adr
03.28.16 | still haven't heard Rorschach |
Mort.
03.28.16 | dude get on protestant sharpish |
accompliceofmydeath
03.28.16 | How the fuck have I never heard of Hogan's Heroes?! Pending listening to that, I've always thought Rorschach, Starkweather and Integrity were pretty much the first. There were plenty of other bands combining metal and hardcore before then, but I think those bands really helped mold it into what it became. |
Mort.
03.28.16 | not many people do seem to have heard of hogans heroes, i only added them to the database after reading bout them on the metalcore wikipedia page hahaha |
accompliceofmydeath
03.28.16 | Haha, I guess it's been a few years since I've visited that. Definitely gonna check 'em out though. Good lookin' out. |
accompliceofmydeath
03.28.16 | I'm only about five songs in on Hogan's Heroes, but I wouldn't be comfortable in calling this metalcore. Pretty much just hardcore/crossover. Not bad at all though. |

03.28.16 | "What don't you like about new Starkweather?"
The theatrical clean vocals. Their split with Overmars was nice though |

03.28.16 | as a side note this list is badass |

03.28.16 | I think personally, Those Who Fear Tomorrow is the first fully metalcore album. It's sound is unequivocally, undeniably metalcore. Remain Sedate, although a few months older, is a bit of a grey area, as far as being metalcore as we know it today. Hogan's Heroes is definitely crossover, but not 'true' metalcore. |
Muisc4Life26
03.28.16 | The first MC album I ever heard was Shadows Are Secruity By AILD

03.29.16 | Unbroken is great an innovative but I think integrity beat them to the punch. Possibly Rorschach as well. |
G0atC0re
03.29.16 | I agree Doom. Unbroken are great, one of my favs, although Life. Love. Regret is just a few years too late to be considered one of the first. Ritual came out in 1993 and although it is a bit rough sounding, and not as good as Life. Love. Regret, it is one of the first metalcore albums ever released. Integrity and maybe Rorschach are the first. |
