The Beatles Ranked
My opinion on how the Beatles albums should be ranked. I included Magical Mystery Tour because it seems to be commonly associated with the Beatles British Discography, but I'm leaving out the rest of the American releases. I tried explaining some of the higher rankings as to why I picked them like I did. |
13 | | The Beatles Yellow Submarine |
12 | | The Beatles Please Please Me |
11 | | The Beatles Beatles for Sale |
10 | | The Beatles With the Beatles |
9 | | The Beatles Let It Be |
8 | | The Beatles A Hard Day's Night |
7 | | The Beatles Help! |
6 | | The Beatles The Beatles
I know this will seem pretty low, but I'll try and explain myself. There are some truly incredible songs, some of the best they made, but to call it a top five album you would have to ignore all of the filler songs, and there are a shit ton of them. It's still an excellent album, but not as good as everyone seems to think is. |
5 | | The Beatles Rubber Soul
This album is frequently defined as the turning point of the Beatles towards their more psychedelic (and better) second half of their career, and it's a pretty great album overall. |
4 | | The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Probably the most critically acclaimed of all the Beatles albums, it's definitely a fantastic album, but I don't think it's their best. Of course it has A Day in the Life, but it also has songs like Fixing a Hole, which isn't exactly bad, but it's definitely not their best material. It's a fantastic, consistent album but I feel like they made better albums. |
3 | | The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour
While it's not as consistent as Sgt. Peppers, I honestly enjoy Magical Mystery a lot more. From track 6 on this album is perfect. Even the first few tracks have highlights like Blue Jay Way. Easily the most underrated Beatles album. |
2 | | The Beatles Abbey Road
I prefer to pretend this is the last Beatles album and Let it Be didn't happen. The medley is pretty great and the first side is equally as impressive. It would probably be my favorite if there weren't songs like Maxwell's Silver Hammer, but even then they're better than the music hall songs on the White Album. |
1 | | The Beatles Revolver
Every song is fantastic. This is by far their most consistent album, there really isn't a bad song on it, and it's definitely the album I return to the most. Definitely my favorite. |
