Calc 01.17.16	there's one where these people get infused with bug abilities and fight giant anthropomorphic cockroaches, it's pretty brutal but the version they aired was heavily censored. if you can find the uncensored version its pretty gory.

Oceandrowned 01.17.16	Ergo Proxy. Its like listening to dark and obscure metal. Comes with one of prettiest graphic design i ever seen. Lain is good too. PS Welcome to NHK is awesome. Very bizzare and strange moments present here as well as actual feel for characters.

It wasn't that I didn't acknowledge the themes present, I just wish they were done with a bit more darkness as it felt like it had more potential for creepiness than it used. Like, the chimera guy was pretty cool but his insanity was kind of portrayed a little too calm and collected. There were many positives too but nothing that stood out beyond the enjoyment of most animes
ZippaThaRippa 01.17.16	Welcome to the NHK didn't have a great ending but that was about all that was wrong with it. The whole shut-in socially awkward man child character reminded me too much of people that I know. That and girls with no self esteem falling for really shitty people. It got a little too real at times but what a great fucking show.

ZippaThaRippa 01.17.16	I agree. Ergo Proxy was a visual feast but I never felt engaged by the character or the story. It felt like it was trying too hard to be thought-provoking and brooding.

I do get what you mean and I felt that way at times too, like I loved how it made Alphonse seem so vulnerable, despite his literal hardness but I dunno, I felt like it could have been more. @zippa what ^ said

ChoccyPhilly 01.17.16	Is PyschoPass worth it? My flatmate has been telling me to watch it but he can't defend his opinions for shit and expects me to just watch whatever he recommends without reasoning. Naturally, I end up sceptical.
ZippaThaRippa 01.17.16	I have to say, I initially ignored Psycho-Pass because I thought the premise was completely banal. The idea of an entire universe based around thought-crime was just a little bit too silly for me. The show can be a little bit cheesy and self-absorbed at times but the sub-stories occurring from episode to episode are absolutely riveting. It is one of the sickest, creepiest Anime I have ever watched. It has kept me up at night on a few occasions. The premise is mediocre, the characters are more or less cookie cutter but the episodes themselves are quite a treat. It's also a pretty good looking show. I would definitely recommend it.
ChoccyPhilly 01.17.16	Well, bubblegum not for most anime but for a lot of shows, yeah it just felt like standard run of the mill anime that didn't stand out in any particular way and i felt like it would have more if it just were a bit creepier. Maybe that's just what I've been looking for in anime though. Yeah, I briefly looked into Welcome to the NHK and it looks good, I'll see if I can get to it. Same with Psycho-Pass but I just hope there's not enough bad in it to put me off for good

LotusFlower 01.17.16	make it look all techy and sciencey or something i dont know. In steins;gate's case i suppose its a play on the fact that a semicolon is used in programming languages to indicate the end of a command line, which would tie in to Steins;gate's time travel elements.

ChoccyPhilly 01.17.16	Well, I suppose that's the thing because i feel like the overly long beginning allows us to see the chemistry between the characters and I quite liked them all in the end and the emphasis on how it affect Okabe was the main thing that really kept me going

ChoccyPhilly 01.17.16	Nah, I couldn't disagree with the man more but I see where he's coming from. Like, he's saying that there wasnt enough emphasis on Karisu and Okabe but... I feel like that misses the point and I wasn't after a romance, so I liked how secondary and subtle it is.

ChoccyPhilly 01.17.16	It is the one show that completely puts me on edge as to who the real enemy is. The OVA also added to this. Like on one hand, you have the titans killing anything and everything... but they seem misunderstood, almost doing things against their will like in the OVA and with Annie... it's so ambigious, there MUST be a reason to all of this killing that goes deeper than what the humans and audience knows and thinks to know. And then you get the humans, who are so corrupt and deluded and unlikable that I kind of want to empathise with the titans a bit more. I'd love to see more anime like this

ComeToDaddy 01.17.16	idk if you're open to reading manga, but you'd fucking love Berserk from the sounds of things. Strongly recommend checking it out. For anime, you'd dig Fate/Zero and Monster. Only issue with Monster might be length, since it's 20+ eps longer than FMA. (btw someone may have already pointed this out, but Brotherhood was much better than the FMA you watched. And it's not shortened like you said, it's 13 eps longer) I thought When They Cry wasn't very good, they kinda hamfist everything and rely too heavily on the shock factor but it more-or-less depends on how big a kick you get out of that shit. I thought Shiki was worth watching just to see what the doctor would do next, as well as for the OVAs. They were definitely the highlight to me.

TheSpirit 01.17.16	"How good is Fate/Zero on a scale of 1-10" I would give it an 8/10. The animation, story, character development, action, pacing, is all fantastic. The only weakness is the ending, which isn't terrible, but just kind of eh. Still well worth it for the rest. It's amazing how invested you get in the characters for a show that's only two seasons long. I also recommend Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Bladeworks, which starts out a bit slower, but is ultimately just as good, and with (imo) a more satisfying ending.

Madbutcher3 01.17.16	Texhnolyze is a good bet if you like Lain. Haibane Renmei is the most elite anime though. Would otherwise recommend The Tatami Galaxy, The Eccentric Family, Shirobako, Kyousougiga, Kino's Journey, Berserk and probably a few other things.

Brotherhood is 64 episodes and original is 51. anyway i thought the series brought both surprises and emotional twists and turns; totally cool if you don't see it the same way, though. i should probably watch Now and Then, Here and There again because i couldn't see it as anything more than a series of fucking horrific tragedies the first time around

tacos n stuff 01.18.16	Boogiebop Phamtom was good but its basically a more confusing and less entertaining Paranoia Agent (in terms of episode structure) shrugs
