Recent Anime Binge

Ranked + recent jams.
8Signor Benedick the Moor
Maiden Voyage Suite

When They Cry - Just finished episode 1. Unfortunately my interest in this began after term had already started. Probably won't have time to watch it but I'm definitely looking forward to finish this as, from what I've seen, it's brutal as fuck.
7GoGo Penguin
v2.0

Boogiepop Phantom - Another one I'm going to finish in the near future - only 13 episodes long and things are coming along quite nicely, but I just wish it wasn't so fucking hard to see things with the haze in the production.
6The Darcys
Warring

Gantz - Well, I didn't even finish this anime. Managed to get half way through before saying fuck it, because it simply wasn't worth it. This definitely has THE WORST pacing I've ever seen in an anime, like people being hesitant to fire a gun, whilst the others are sweating their balls off and doing fuck all for an entire episode after some brutal murder by an alien. Also, for some reason, they made everyone into a cunt in this or a helpless annoying, whiney pussy. I thought it would get better... it didn't.
5Jim Williams
A Field In England Soundtrack

Serial Experiments Lain - Currently on episode 8 - will finish at some point but it's just so challenging and weird and SLOW AS FUCK that even if everything is edgy and cool and shit, it's just so hard to appreciate at times. I get what they're working towards but the build up to everything has taken hours and at this point, I'm pretty much forcing myself to finish it off. Just hope it's worth it.

Shiki - Rather disappointing anime overall, due to the ending. It was sold to me as this moral mindfuck where evil was much more difficult to distinguish. [SPOILERS]. The theme, at the very least was done beautifully for the most part, with the hopeless and dreary atmosphere being done superbly well with a gorgeous soundtrack too, which was slightly overdone. However... the ending is so unfulfilling. Like, I understand that they were trying to show the humans as equally as bad as the shiki but they only humanised the shiki way too late. Also, it's a bit hypocritical to be signing off deaths happily and kidnapping people and then begging for your life - the humans done gud. It wasn't helped by that whiney who takes stupidly frustrating choices, as if just to annoy the audience. To its credit, the OVAs did well and the dub was done well enough for me to actually watch that instead of th sub but it didn't reach anywhere near Attack on Titan tier of making the 'bad guys' indistinguishable.

Things That Happen At Day

Fullmetal Alchemist - Isn't really that much to say about it other than how fucking long it is, but apparently the shortened re-make, Brotherhood, is terrible so yeah. Pretty bubblegum at many times and an alright ending. Protagonist seemed waaaaay too OP but it pretty much is like a kid anime. Nothing fantastic but nothing bad either.
2So Hideous
Laurestine

One Punch Man - Even without the plotline, it's a pretty funny anime and an entertaining watch despite its episodic feel. It was nice that they were consistent on the humour and actually managed to branch out into a really intriguing scenario with the hero's association and whatnot. I hope it expands this concept in later seasons but yeah, well worth the watch.
1Ataraxie
L Etre et La Nausee

Steins;Gate - HOOOOOUUUIAAAN KYYYOOOOMMMAAA. All round, superb anime and would give the sputnik approval rating of 4.5/5. Done masterfully, all the characters are done so well and it's refreshing to see a time travel based show that isn't super cheesy like Doctor Who and where Time Travel is important for the plot rather than it being used to open the show and close the show. Start is arguably too slow but it's one based on emotional attachment, and it's clear that this is NEEDED to properly get into this anime and thus, allowed parts to be emotionally intense and beautiful when they needed to be. And also, fuck current Dr Who.
