Conman's 2015 Honorable Mentions
All the albums I somewhat enjoyed but won't be making my top 20 list for 2k15. In no particular order |
| 1 | | Father John Misty I Love You, Honeybear
Probably would've been right around the 20 spot. I enjoyed a couple songs off this album but it never really clicked overall. 3.08/5 |
| 2 | | Dilly Dally Sore
Kinda cool album with Hop Along-esque vocals in a punk rock style. 3.12/5 |
| 3 | | Third Eye Blind Dopamine
This band created probably my favorite album of all time, but ever since then they have been on a decline musically. A couple of these songs I jammed over the summer but most of the album didn't have too much staying power. 2.88/5 |
| 4 | | Cage The Elephant Tell Me I'm Pretty
Really liked their debut and I thought Melophobia was a great development in sound but this album was a step backwards. A couple songs I really do enjoy but the rest of the album is a snoozefest. 2.89/5 |
| 5 | | Drake If You're Reading This It's Too Late
Really enjoyed a couple songs off this. Surprisingly enough this is the release that turned me onto Drake. Still bump some songs but the rest didn't really do much for me. 3.09/5 |
| 6 | | Earl Sweatshirt I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside
Another rap release that almost sneaked onto my top 20 list. Cool dark vibe from this album but some beats I found kinda dull/boring. 3.02/5 |
| 7 | | Cloakroom Further Out
After seeing them live I was really excited to check out their full release. Unfortunately half the songs on here are way too boring and really drag the album. Some good tracks here though. 3/5 |
| 8 | | Desaparecidos Payola
Love Conor Oberst and his emo/punk energy on his Desaparecidos albums. This one has some fun tracks but isn't as great as Read/Speak. 3.05/5 |
| 9 | | Smallpools Lovetap!
Saw these guys live this year as well and was actually impressed with a lot of their songs. The first half of this album is pretty fun indie pop but the second half gets way too same-y. 2.97/5 |
| 10 | | Rae Sremmurd SremmLife
Fun rap pop stuff. Impressive that half of this album is radio hits. 3.06/5 |
| 11 | | The World Is a Beautiful Place... Harmlessness
Only really dug 2 or 3 tracks off this album. Seemed kinda boring to me and didn't ever click like Whenever, If Ever did. 2.73/5 |
| 12 | | Elvis Depressedly New Alhambra
Really cool release but didn't like this as much as their earlier work. 3.08/5 |
| 13 | | The Neighbourhood Wiped Out
Improvement from their debut but not much. Still a couple clunkers on here and the lyrics haven't developed as much as I would've like to have seen. 3.02/5 |
| 14 | | Title Fight Hyperview
Sad because I really enjoyed Floral Green, especially the slower songs. This album was just boring overall. 2.71/5 |
| 15 | | Donnie Trumpet and The Social Experiment Surf
Love you Chance but make another solo rap album already. Sunday Candy is still my jam though. 2.68/5 |
