Some disappointments from 2015

Every single record I had high hopes for let me down. Here are some of them!
1August Burns Red
Found In Far Away Places

Most tracks on this are a solid 6.5/10. There's a solid stream of quality beginning with track 7, but otherwise, this is a really, really lackluster album for them. Very little of the energy or boldness seen on R&R.
2Beach Slang
The Things We Do to Find People Who Feel

We get it, dude. You like getting high.
3The Front Bottoms
Back On Top

A lot of this is laughably bad compared to their last two records. Saw them on their most recent tour (went mostly for Smith St) and the performance had maybe two good songs, but the seething sea of preteens seemed satisfied.
4The Last Ten Seconds of Life
Soulless Hymns

Okay I can't pretend this band was anything other than A Chunky Deathcore Band but after the last record I expected a hell of a lot better than...this.
5Make Do and Mend
Don't Be Long

Despite never being universally loved, MDAM are one of my favorite bands of all time. I related a lot to their lyrics during some hard times. I still get that sense with DBL, but the record is messy and the production is an unpleasant departure from the warm guitar tones of their last two records.
6mewithoutYou
Pale Horses

The only good thing about this record is the climax of the last song and that one vocal melody they use in like six different songs. Otherwise, a complete snoozefest with Yip's hit-or-miss production firmly categorized as a miss for this one. A lot of it seems like all the boring parts of Brother, Sister, just...without the good parts.
7The Story So Far
The Story So Far

Didn't expect shit after the last record, which I thought was pretty bad, but this was measurably worse.
8Superheaven
Ours Is Chrome

43:45 total time. That's one long yawn. Though I actually like the first two tracks, and From The Chest Down.
9Title Fight
Hyperview

Like TSSF, I love their debut LP, thought their sophomore record was huge drop in quality (although for this band I simply thought they were trying to hard to "mature"), and probably laughed out loud a few times the first time I heard this.
10The Wonder Years
No Closer to Heaven

If I haven't destroyed my nonexistent credibility already based on the bands that I'm listing, TWY have been one of my favorite bands of all time since I stumbled onto Suburbia and it became the soundtrack to some of my favorite memories. Though I feel they haven't topped Suburbia, this was a significant drop in quality overall, with only a few legitimately good songs (4, 10) and an unfortunate misstep after three records straight of incredible production.
