My Concert Experiences Ranked
I've seen a decent number of bands live and I like making lists so here it is. List is NOT based on how much I like their studio, but rather how well the bands sounded live and how much fun I had at their concert. |
1 | | Childish Gambino Because the Internet
Best concert I've ever been to hands down. The crowd was so hype and Childish has such a great stage presence. Literally played through BTI and then did 8-10 songs from Royalty/Camp and a freestyle. |
2 | | Brand New The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
1st time I saw them live at Summerfest in Milwaukee. What an experience...seeing them close out with You Won't Know was mind-blowing and intense. |
3 | | Tigers Jaw Tigers Jaw
Saw them with Dads and Touche Amore and they jammed so hard. Was a really intimate concert too and at the time it was my first intimate concert so I'll always remember it. They also played a Pavement cover which was dope. |
4 | | Cage The Elephant Melophobia
Say what you will about their music but these guys have an AMAZING stage presence and their energy on stage is unmatched to any other band I've seen. Lead singer stage dived on the 2nd song. |
5 | | The Wonder Years The Greatest Generation
Saw them on the tour for this album and it was incredible. See these guys live if you ever get the chance. |
6 | | Third Eye Blind Third Eye Blind
One of my favorite bands so I'm a bit biased but these guys live is awesome. Saw them at the Egyptian Room. |
7 | | Kendrick Lamar To Pimp a Butterfly
Saw him on tour for this album and he ended up playing only 3-4 songs off TPAB...which sucks but he played most of GKMC which is so so so hype live so I forgive him. |
8 | | American Football American Football
Saw these guys in Lincoln Hall the day after New Years in Chicago...so intimate and such a lovely experience. |
9 | | Brand New Daisy
2nd time I saw them they weren't as on as they were the first time but still amazing. They played Soco and I was 18 at the time so that was special I guess. |
10 | | The Front Bottoms Back On Top
Most recent concert and they were great. Twin Sized Mattress enough said |
11 | | Sublime with Rome Yours Truly
Say what you will about Rome but these guys live is amazing. Rome looked so happy and said it was 10x better last time they came to our town. |
12 | | Kanye West My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Saw him on tour for this album. I was a bit young at the time but he blew me away. |
13 | | Conor Oberst Upside Down Mountain
Saw him mostly out of hope he'd play Bright Eyes songs which he did play...but also saw him play Roosevelt Room live which was INSANE. |
14 | | Silversun Pickups Neck of the Woods
More of a chill concert...it was outdoors and it was perfect temperature wise. Also they played Kissing Families and the story behind seeing that live is a story within itself. |
15 | | Modern Baseball You’re Gonna Miss It All
Saw them but they were an opener band. Seeing them again very very soon. |
16 | | Minus the Bear Planet of Ice
Went to see these guys on a whim and was blown away. Still have the sweatshirt from that concert and now I'm a MTB fan. |
17 | | Third Eye Blind Ursa Major
1st time I saw them live was not as great as the 2nd but it was still a cool experience. Imagine Dragons opened up for them before ID was insanely popular. |
18 | | Switchfoot Vice Verses
Honestly don't like a lot of their studio stuff but live they are incredible. |
19 | | Touche Amore Is Survived By
They were cool but not the biggest fan of this band. Live though was really intense and I got to scream into the mic lol |
20 | | Smallpools Lovetap!
Cool intimate college show. Actually impressed me live even though their studio stuff is a bit generic. Also they played a New Radicals cover so that was cool. |
21 | | You Blew It! Grow Up, Dude
These guys were the openers for Coheed and Cambria (which I didn't stay for) so most of the crowd was pretty lame but YBI! was awesome live. Plus they were forced to do a huge set since it was a festival so they played like 15ish songs. |
22 | | New Politics New Politics
Pretty mediocre band studio wise and their lyrics are crap but they were actually really cool live energy wise and everything. They did a cover of Sabatoge which was so cool haha |
23 | | Arctic Monkeys AM
They sound exactly the same as they do in the studio...cool band but energy they lacked a bit |
24 | | O.A.R. All Sides
Not a big fan of their studio stuff but live they are really great. Everyone threw playing cards during It Was a Crazy Game of Poker which was hilarious. |
25 | | AWOLNATION Megalithic Symphony
They were fun but singer was a bit off and Sail wasn't as good live as I expected it to be. |
26 | | Red Hot Chili Peppers Stadium Arcadium
Saw them in a huge arena which kinda sucked but they were awesome live. |
27 | | Alt-J This Is All Yours
This was a really chill concert...all I really have to say tbh |
28 | | Kevin Devine Brother's Blood
He opened up for Brand New and he is such a good guitarist. Short set but Cotton Crush live is really cool. |
29 | | Lupe Fiasco Tetsuo & Youth
Cool rapper to see live and was pretty funny crowd interaction wise. Don't like a lot of this guy's stuff but his encore was incredible. |
30 | | ScHoolboy Q Oxymoron
He opened up for Kendrick and he was hype but in the middle of the set he got kinda tired and stopped finishing his lines lol |
31 | | Alt-J An Awesome Wave
2nd time I saw them live it was in an amphitheater so it was less cool than the 1st but they were still chill |
32 | | The Smith Street Band No One Gets Lost Anymore
These guys impressed me but had like a 7 song set and the crowd wasn't the greatest. |
33 | | Switchfoot Fading West
This was the 1st time I saw them...not as cool because I was way farther away but it was still fun. |
34 | | Imagine Dragons Imagine Dragons
Cool live band cuz of the huge bass drum they have but not a fan of them. This was before they were hugely popular so I guess that was cool |
35 | | Middle Class Rut Pick Up Your Head
Crowd wasn't into them at all because they are pretty harsh sounding live but I was vibing with them. Busy Bein' Born live is so cool. |
36 | | Into It. Over It. Proper
Evan is such a cool dude but I don't know much of their stuff. Sounded pretty good live. |
37 | | Dads American Radass (This Is Important)
A bit sloppy live and didn't play Shit Twins but it was an intimate concert and some of their other stuff jams pretty hard. |
38 | | Imagine Dragons It's Time
2nd time seeing them and I only went because literally everyone I knew was going...pretty cool concert but I could tell they were starting to sell out. |
39 | | Ludacris Battle of the Sexes
Lol... |
40 | | KiD CuDi Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager
This is pre-WZRD Cudi so all of his stuff was from this album or before. He did a really short set though which at the time I was upset about so it left a bad impression of the memory. |
41 | | The Kooks Inside In/Inside Out
Cool band I guess and they sounded OK live. A lot of girls at this concert. Naive was fun to hear live though. |
42 | | Ziggy Marley Fly Rasta
He played a Bob Marley cover and that's all I wanted to hear. chill concert |
43 | | The Mowgli's Love's Not Dead
Hippie indie band...San Francisco was cool live though |
44 | | Dawes Stories Don't End
These guys opened up for Conor Oberst and then became the backing band for him. Pretty impressive but their alt-country sound wasn't my favorite. |
45 | | Bad Suns Language and Perspective
Cool catchy band and all the young girls went crazy for these guys. Kinda empty emotion wise though |
46 | | Maritime We, the Vehicles
Didn't know much about these guys but they opened up for American Football. Sang a song about Milwaukee which was cool since I was living in that area at the time. Nothing special live though. |
47 | | Cloakroom Further Out
Oh man these guys had a really dark, wall of sound type of thing going on. Short set and I was mad at the time that I didn't know enough of their stuff. |
48 | | Bon Jovi Wanted Dead Or Alive (2003) CVS Promo
2nd concert ever and it was on the day the world was supposed to end so he did that R.E.M. song. Not a fan of his stuff though |
49 | | Hydra Melody Self-Titled
Catchy stuff but all of their songs sounded exactly the same. |
50 | | The Story So Far Under Soil and Dirt
Unnecessarily rough crowd and the lead singer had a hole in his chest that I couldn't stop staring at. All their stuff sounds the same but Quicksound was cool live I guess. |
51 | | American Authors American Authors
Saw them before that one song was huge on the radio. Nothing memorable though |
52 | | I'm Not a Pilot Need Money For Rocket Fuel
Cool band from Milwaukee. Instead of a lead guitar they have an electric celloist. Really cool indie band and their cover of Creep was actually fantastic. No one was there though so crowd was lame. |
53 | | Meg Myers Sorry
She's pretty hot and she even screamed a bit but I was pretty distracted during her set so I don't remember much. |
54 | | Matt and Kim Matt & Kim
Had lots of energy but their songs are so simple and kinda same-y. |
55 | | Walk the Moon Tightrope
Love their earlier stuff but this was after they released their latest album so everything was pretty poppy and not great. Anna Sun live was a highlight though. |
56 | | San Fermin San Fermin
Really weird band...Sonsick is a great song though and they did a cover of Heart of Darkness by The Strokes which was cool. Crowd had no idea what to do during their set though. |
57 | | White Denim Corsicana Lemonade
All their stuff was same-y but Pretty Green was cool live and at the end of their set they destringed their guitars and left which was hilarious. |
58 | | INVSN INVSN
Opened up for MTB and they were interesting... |
59 | | Fitz and the Tantrums More Than Just A Dream
Fun band but I found them a bit annoying live. |
60 | | Vance Joy God Loves You When You're Dancing
Ehhh...not that cool live. |
61 | | MercyMe The Generous Mr. Lovewell
Christian band which was fun at the time but looking back at it they were not so great |
62 | | Mother Mother The Sticks
Very weird band...I was also not in a good place at the time (kinda paranoid and high but that's a whole different story) |
63 | | Metric Fantasies
Very boring band live |
64 | | Night Ranger Greatest Hits
Lol 1st concert |
65 | | Thundercat The Golden Age Of Apocalypse
Ok so like these guys are actually decent studio wise but live they literally did like 10 minute extended versions of their songs and it was before RHCP so no one was vibing with them at all. My friends and I laughed so hard during their set |
