More TOOL Duplicates under 300 votes
My original intent for visiting this site was to find more TOOL-esque music here, and eventually I learned there are sounds that are just as good in differing genres after making an account. Still, I find myself still coming back to the prog rock genre in hopes of finding music that seems to gravitate around TOOL as inspiration. Here's a few more (discreet) bands that don't hide their influences: |
1 | | Absolace Resolve[d]
For this album at least, this has some Tool inspirations w/ Filter-esque vocals. |
2 | | Battling Delirium Locust
A local Louisiana band, w/ an album that's a mild improvement from their first one. If not for (long) filler tracks exceeding 4-5 mins, repetitive instrumental patterns, and restrained vocals, this bands sound could become unique amongst the majority of those on this list. |
3 | | Ceterum Fathom
Perhaps the most vocally impressive of these Tool duplicates I've heard. |
4 | | Counterfist Vertical Mile
Alright, alright... I may have been quick to judge. Vertical Mile is a pretty decent album w/ nice vocals and great drum work. It's an album I'd like to own, IF I can even find one... |
5 | | Deadsoul Tribe The January Tree
Yet to be heard in full... |
6 | | Divine Ratio Split By Unity
A hard-prog interpretation of a Tool duplicate w/ Chevelle-esque vocals. Another solid debut album w/ potential to be greater. |
7 | | Downer Downer
A Tool sound if the artist used a hardcore vocal delivery w/ more of a hard rock (or nu-metal?) instrumentation. And hands down, John Scott is the hardcore Maynard doppelgänger. |
8 | | Earshot Letting Go
Their early material was definitely their strongest work, but this album is one of my least favorites on this list. For anyone wanting to transition OUT of hard rock, this I believe would be a better record to be heard first and gradually gravitate to some more "complex" albums later. |
9 | | Effigy (FRC) Black Is Now the Sun
Great instrumentations w/ fair vocals, even featuring better vocals than of Prisma's Collusion album. This band now goes by HoloH (8/8/16 - just added). |
10 | | Futile 7 Nightmares
Yet to be heard in full... |
11 | | Jurojin The Living Measure Of Time
Personally I believe this particular album to be overrated. A few tracks are worth mentioning w/ the use of the sitar, but this album barely peaks to some of the other albums on this list. Hell, I feel Earshot's Letting Go has more to offer than this. |
12 | | Kaura That Which Defines Us
An enigmatic band that borders the 3.5-4/5 range, out of the potential for them to be "unique" as Rishloo had. |
13 | | Komara Komara
Yet to be heard in full... |
14 | | Living Syndication Aneurythm
A fairly lengthy album that has some good sections in most of their tracks, but not really one noteworthy song. Compared to most albums on this list, this lead has one of the least impressive vocals, and the instrumentations are far too comfortable in their hard rock spectrum. |
15 | | Lucid Planet Hidden In Plain Sight
Even for an EP, this is the most impressive of all those on this list. The sound is more or less if these guys listened to TOOL's Lateralus for lyrical inspiration and Kyuss' Welcome to Sky Valley for audio inspiration to create a more primal sound. What comes up is a blend of progressive rock and "tribal" stoner rock. To add to the excitement, these guys just released their debut LP on 10/31/15!
Hope to hear their first album soon enough. And their EP can be found on SoundCloud. |
16 | | MIRE (CAN) Inward:Outward
Surprised to be hearing a "nu-metal" band on this list. Instrumentations are awesome, and this vocalist is not a complete rip of Tool. That being he has a likeness of Mr. Maynard, but has a voice like that of Martin Gore (Depeche Mode). |
17 | | Ongkara Ongkara
An interesting name alongside an interesting mixture of Western & Eastern instrumentation. The sound is also folk-oriented, making this band's sound much more milder compared to those on this list. Of all those listed here, THIS is the most unique. |
18 | | Oriya Light To Dark
A solid hard-prog rock duplication that doesn't take many risks yet slightly better than most Tool duplicates. |
19 | | Paramaya Beside the Illusion
Another local Louisiana band w/ some pretty good stoner rock influences and a Dax Riggs vocal impression. Pretty enjoyable as a whole, but most the material is scattered via Internet. |
20 | | Pinwheel Reset
The sound makes me think Jesse Hasek (10 Years) took singing lessons from Mr. Keenan and decided to front for a Chevelle-tribute band. |
21 | | Prisma Collusion
Instrumentations make up for the weaker vocals. |
22 | | Samadhi Band Samadhi Band
A foreign band w/ strong hints of "Mer De Noms" APC to "Lateralus" Tool instrumentation. I think I do not enjoy this album as much since the entire album is sung in a foreign tongue I'm not familiar with. |
23 | | Socionic Dividing Horizon
Personally a very tame Tool duplicate, even more tame than Absolace or Counterfist. |
24 | | Soen Cognitive
A supergroup, doppelgänger of the Tool sound. Prefer this album than their sophomore attempt. |
25 | | Spinning Black Circle Spinning Black Circle
A Tool-esque band from France. Resemblance became more apparent by track 4. Definitely more enjoyable than Socionic's DH album... |
26 | | S.T.E.M. The .7 Compromise
A bombastic sound w/ a vocal impression that reminds me of System Of A Down's lead singer. To find this album under $4 via Amazon was a steal of an album. If you get the chance, BUY this album! |
27 | | Suns of the Tundra Suns of the Tundra
A reminder to get my ears checked, because I cannot hear the Maynard resemblance... |
28 | | Tacoma Narrows Bridge Disaster Exegesis
Yet to be heard in full... |
29 | | Temple of Thieves Passing Through the Zer0s
The sound that Earshot and Counterfist WISHED they could've achieved. |
