Nothing Was The Same Ranked (loosely)
Since it looks like Drizzy season is soon approaching and I’m seriously bored, I thought I’d do a little ranked list for NWTS. List is for the standard release. |
| 1 | | Drake Nothing Was the Same
Wu-Tang Forever
Wu links aside, the beat on this is really sweet. Drake’s flow is pretty good too, although he does sound like he’s sweating on the mic when he’s trying to speed it up. That “Then I hit you with the 9 a.m. in Dallas who you like” line is nicely done though. |
| 2 | | Drake Nothing Was the Same
Worst Behaviour
Yes, no one loved us... I think the production is what pretty much makes this album for me, since that’s what I end up praising on every track.
“Bitch you better have my money/When I come for that shit like O.D.B” – that line is pretty sweet. I also like Drake’s third verse. |
| 3 | | Drake Nothing Was the Same
Furthest Thing
The first half is kinda whatever, but I love the beat change in the second half of the track, it’s so lavish. It’s such a glorious way to end the track, and it’s one of my favourite moments on the album. |
| 4 | | Drake Nothing Was the Same
Pound Cake/Paris Morton Music 2 (feat. Jay-Z)
Jay’s verse on this is so bad it’s actually embarrassing, like how could you write something so crap? The Wu vocal samples are also badly done (urgh). But Pound Cake’s beat is insane which makes up for the aforementioned missteps. Paris Morton Music 2 basically a victory lap for the album. |
| 5 | | Drake Nothing Was the Same
Started From The Bottom
Don’t really need to say anything about this. All about the production for me... |
| 6 | | Drake Nothing Was the Same
From Time
I like this track; I would like to rank it higher. Drake takes centre-stage on this one with a couple of nice verses over a pretty laidback beat. Really smooth flow. I’m down for all that reminiscing when it’s done like this. |
| 7 | | Drake Nothing Was the Same
Tuscan Leather
A sweet opener, I like the pitch-shifted vocals on the beat. Obviously Drake is down with that Tom Ford fragrance. “How much time is this nigga spending on the intro?” Well approximately six minutes and six seconds, which is probably intentional given Jimmy’s love for the 6. |
| 8 | | Drake Nothing Was the Same
Too Much
Really nice. I love Sampha’s hook and the beat is pretty classy. I prefer this over Take Care, another song where Drake took a pre-existing song track and molded it into his own. “I did not sign up for this”, I feel you Drizzy homeboy. |
| 9 | | Drake Nothing Was the Same
Hold On, We're Going Home
I’m actually not too fond of this, but I can’t deny how catchy it is. The song highlights how much Drake has improved as a singer from when he first started out. |
| 10 | | Drake Nothing Was the Same
Connect
The album starts to drop off for me with this song. It’s not bad, just mediocre. Drake’s third verse is alright though, and I like the way the beat intensifies and calms down just before he starts his verse. |
| 11 | | Drake Nothing Was the Same
The Language
This, Connect and 305 To My City are all pretty interchangeable for me. I like the beat, and Drake’s flow pretty much preludes that of If You're Reading This It's Too Late. Birdman can go do one though... |
| 12 | | Drake Nothing Was the Same
305 To My City
Pretty much a chilled out continuation of The Language. We get it... |
| 13 | | Drake Nothing Was the Same
Own It
I’m not keen on this track. It’s too syrupy for me (and I have a pretty high threshold for that kind of thing). |
