09.07.15 | Guys, how have we missed the Pixies? They are some essential listening for indie. Sonic youth as well |

09.07.15 | Can anyone actually define indie rock for me? what elements are common to all 'indie rock bands' or simple just 'indie' bands? I'm familiar with alot of the major players in the genre but i still couldn't tell you what the genre is about, other than incorporating more obscure sub genres into the music and experimenting more than your average band. |

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indie_rock
"I'm familiar with alot of the major players in the genre but i still couldn't tell you what the genre is about"
so you actually aren't familiar with the genre at all, and have no idea what you're talking about. instead of throwing your arms up in frustration and crying about indie being a nonsensical, enigmatic, inferior genre of music that is simply below your apparently superior understanding of music, try making a conscious effort to listen to it and expand your horizons.
"other than incorporating more obscure sub genres into the music and experimenting more than your average band."
this is like what i thought about metal music when i was 9, complete with the contradictions and generally ignorant viewpoints you have outlined here. do not pass go, do not collect $200. go rethink your life and come back when you have something to say that isn't complete bullshit. |
