08.31.15 | I already posed this in the film thread on the forum but wanted to share it on here too. It's hard to believe such a important creative force is gone.

08.31.15 | The sleepless nights Nightmare on Elm Street gave me back in the day. Matchsticks to keep me eyes open came out.
Testament to mans creative genius. |

08.31.15 | this is like the first time i can remember a celebrity/big figure dying where i actually really cared much. he was basically my hero growing up and i still think a lot of his films (espec scream) largely shaped who i am as an artist so im bummed |
Rowan5215
08.31.15 | Scream is one of the best movies ever tbh rip |

08.31.15 | Not a fan of horror movies in general but Scream gave me the creeps back in the day. Dude was a legend, RIP. |

been so many from this year for me. Nimoy, Christopher Lee, BB King, Sam Simon. Hitting closer to home with every passing year. damn getting older |

08.31.15 | Yeah, most popular figures I deeply care about are still kicking or died when I wasn't alive or was too young to care. |

08.31.15 | Christopher Lee and Wes Craven are my two I think, it hasn't been a very good year has it?

Hawks
08.31.15 | Yeah both Scream and Nightmare On Elm Street are 2 of my favs.
RIP hard. m/ |

08.31.15 | The Hills Have Eyes was so unique for its time though. The realistic nature of it instead of having monsters scared a lot of people at the time.
Admittedly, I haven't seen either of the remakes. I've seen the Elm Street remake and we all know how that went. |
MO
08.31.15 | remake of Hills was just for the gore lovers, the originals were way more psychological. but that can be said about pretty much all horror originals against their remakes |

08.31.15 | One of the only exceptions being The Ring. |

08.31.15 | BURN HIM! BURN HIM! BURN THE HEATHEN!
nah seriously if that's your honest opinion then I have no problem with it (even if I don't agree) |

08.31.15 | Lmao bro the remake sucks idk how you can say it's better than the original. |

08.31.15 | Jackie's performance was fine, it was the pizza-face make up that let it down.
The atmosphere of the dream sequences was good but it was a bit too dark (literally and figuratively). |

08.31.15 | the remake freddy had ZERO personality. the beauty of Robert Englund's Freddy is he was completely batshit insane but quirky as fuck too, making him not only toy with his victims but terrorize the shit out of them and simply love doing it. he was goofy as fuck which made it all the more creepy.
the remakes freddy was so bland and cookie cutter bad guy that it basically led to a very very boooooring villain. and when there is basically no strength in the supporting cast/good guys it just makes the movie boring as fuck |

Sorry tresm, but he's right, Jackie may have been menacing but Eungland is straight up terrifying (albeit in a more psychological way). |

08.31.15 | I don't know I mainly chalk it up to a time in cinema when horror movies were so fresh and so many great ideas were coming out that you not only got a novel concept but actors who actually gave a fuck about their roles and movie makers busting out all the stops.
these days there's like 1 in every 100 horror movies with novel concepts that don't rely on gore or torture porn to make something truly scary.
I mean have you even SEEN the original Texas Chainsaw? barely any gore but it's one of the most unsettling horror movie experiences I've ever had. |

08.31.15 | nightmare on elm street is a classic, and it's remake is some platinum dunes garbage. freddy is barely in either of them, most people associate englunds freddy with the third and fourth. that said the original was way more surreal and atmospheric. as for the quality of wes craven films, it varies from person to person. his hits and misses are unique, dudes basically a rebel filmmaker. he started his career in porn during the time where it was illegal to film porn. his first features have a 'dive right in' type of feel to them, which is a nice change from the more pretentious 'new wave' (coppla) directors of the time. regardless, his work usually comes off as fun and collaborative. |

08.31.15 | i true legend.. og Last House on the Left is a clossic |

08.31.15 | yeah last house on the left is hardcore AF I remember seeing that shit when I was younger and knew I was watching something real fucked |
Tunaboy45
08.31.15 | It's pretty funny to think he got his start making pornography. I've never made a porno (except for that one time), but I'm pretty sure Freddy Krueger and porn don't mix well. |
BAT
09.01.15 | last house on the left was originally written as a 3 hour fuck flick, that would've been interesting |

09.01.15 | its almost was, I just remember gang rape and so much stabbing she was almost in two pieces |
