My Top 5 Alkaline Trio Songs.

The Alkaline Trio are my absolute favourite band, ever! They're not the best band out there from a technical aspect, but they write amazing songs. These are, for me, their five most amazing.
1Alkaline Trio
All On Black

The chorus of this song featured on their website just before Good Mourning came out. Ever since i first heard the 20 second clip, i knew this was a song i'd love. The lyrics are so strong, they turn the two chord pre-chorus into probably the best pre-chorus in the world. And no amount of Carling will ever top that.
"What's black and white? What's red all over? This tired book, this organ doner."
2Queen of Pain

It's not often Matt plays single note melodies, so maybe that's why this song stands out. It's something he uses sparingly, and to great effect.
Something Mr Skiba doesn't use quite so sparingly, however, is great lyrics. And this song is laden with them.
"I'm not much of a jester but i'd test poisend food for you. Your majesty, you're royal blue. I'm loyal to my king of pain."
3Love Love, Kiss Kiss

I enterd the competition the Trio ran on youtube, asking people to use the sheet music to interpret the song before it came out. I didn't win, but it's okay. Watching my crappy video on youtube so much (i'm pretty vain, i guess) lowered my expectations for this song to the point where Dan made this song 1 million times better than i thought it would be.
"I'll dedicate it to the fact that it's so hard for you to dream. A million heartbeats all around you make it hard to sleep."
4Private Eye

This is the song that got me into the band. I saw it on the now defunct P-Rock music chanel. Not being internet savvy enough to download it, i actually recorded it from the tv onto tape. I decided to go out and buy the album. Partly because of this song, and partly because i needed a tape to record Sex and the City.
"I dragged this lake, looking for corpses. Dusted for prints, pried up the floorboards."
5Cringe

Alk3 aren't really known for their amazingly technical guitar riffery... but the middle section to this song proves that Matt Skiba can do more with simple powerchords than most players can do with their masturbatory shredding. Most notably write an amazing instrumental part that fits into a song.
"Just below your thighs, the temperature drops 5 degrees."
