Pappy’s August Jams
What I've been listening to this month |
| 1 | | FKA Twigs M3LL155X
I’m pretty indifferent to this, Twigs really needs to switch it up. In Time and Glass & Patron were the only songs I cared for. (R&B/Electronic) |
| 2 | | Donald Byrd A New Perspective
Donald Byrd is criminally underrated on here. It’s one of my favourite albums and it’s also his best. Cristo Redentor is a must hear! (Jazz) |
| 3 | | Teenage Fanclub Bandwagonesque
Another great album, it’s so catchy. I’ve been jamming it for months. Big Star were evidently a massive influence on them. (Alternative Rock/Power Pop) |
| 4 | | Daniel Johnston Don't Be Scared
The Story of an Artist and My Yoke Is Heavy are absolute tear-jerkers. (Lo-Fi Indie) |
| 5 | | Holly Herndon Movement
An interesting experience… (Electronic/Experimental) |
| 6 | | Belle and Sebastian If You're Feeling Sinister
Such a cosy little album. Foxes in the Snow is an absolute gem! I could listen to that track all day. (Indie-pop/Chamber-pop) |
| 7 | | Flying Lotus Until the Quiet Comes
While the whole album is great, the second half of this is just insane. FlyLo is that man. Always a great listen. (IDM) |
| 8 | | Radiohead In Rainbows
I’ve been revisiting this quite a lot recently. Words cannot do justice to how good some of the songs are here. (Alternative Rock) |
| 9 | | Andy Stott Merciless
I caught Stott live a couple of weeks ago and I really enjoyed his set. This has become my favourite album by him. It’s a lot more straightforward than his other albums, but still rules. Really enjoyable. (Techno) |
| 10 | | Yagya Will I Dream During The Process?
I really dig Yagya’s work, he’s got a great ear for atmosphere (think Gas). Not my favourite album by him (that’s Rigning), but this is still a great listen. (Ambient Techno/Dub Techno) |
| 11 | | Rome Fortune Beautiful Pimp II
Been revisiting this a lot as well. The beats on this are awesome. Shame Rome sounds like he’s devoid of life. A decent listen though. (Hip Hop/Cloud Rap) |
| 12 | | Rome Fortune FACT mix 508
A decent mix, pretty chilled. (Hip Hop/Electronic) |
| 13 | | Grant Lee Buffalo Fuzzy
Like Teenage Fanclub’s Bandwagonesque, this has been on heavy rotation for ages. Some of the song-writing here is just amazing. Favourite Songs: Fuzzy, Jupiter And Teardrop, The Hook, You Just Have To Be Crazy. (Alternative Rock/Americana) |
| 14 | | Glassjaw Worship and Tribute
Actually one of the few albums that I dug back in school that I regularly listen to. The thread for this has been bumped so much recently. (Post-Hardcore) |
| 15 | | Miles Davis Relaxin' With the Miles Davis Quintet
Exactly what the title says. That’s me on the cover. (Jazz) |
| 16 | | Wes Montgomery Smokin' at the Half Note
I love chilling out to this. Portrait Of Jennie and Oh, You Crazy Moon are super tunes. (Jazz) |
| 17 | | Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin II |
| 18 | | Vessel Order Of Noise
This kind of passed me by when it came out a few years ago, but I’ve listened to it quite a lot recently. Reminiscent of Arca in certain places. I probably should check out his latest album… (IDM) |
| 19 | | Vladislav Delay Whistleblower
Another interesting listen. Great atmosphere! (Ambient/Glitch) |
| 20 | | Kendrick Lamar To Pimp a Butterfly
I actually thought that this had worn off me a few weeks ago. No, I was wrong. Still a great listen. (Hip Hop) |
