Toto last night
// [Sneaky 2021 edit because the descriptions were garbage. :D] // Been to Toto's outdoor show in Milan last night, it was a blast but well they are known for their big shows, save for those who only know their early hits (my prayers are with you). My only complaint is that I hoped for more of their prog/jazz/whatever oriented tracks, which they haven't played like at all. Not getting stuff like "Hydra" was a bummer for sure, but I understand they had to promote the new album. So, not a very deep setlist but still a few surprises were there! List is tracks, keep in mind that Toto always extend the original songs with extensive soloing of multiple instruments so they often aren't the same as a reduced studio listen. |

Running Out of Time
A perfect way to open the show, thanks to the energetic opening riff and anthemic chorus. It's clear everyone is in great shape. |

I'll Supply the Love
Classic Toto hit, very catchy and happy, with a nice instrumental coda to boot that unfortunately worked as one of the only "proggy" parts of this show. |
3 | | Toto Toto XIV
Burn
Didn't click with me on release date, but it grows hard. |
4 | | Toto Isolation
Stranger in Town |
5 | | Toto Toto IV
I Won't Hold You Back |
6 | | Toto Toto
Hold the Line |
7 | | Toto Toto
Takin' It Back |
8 | | Toto Kingdom of Desire
Never Enough
A bit more played than Stranger In Town but still great to see it in live shows again. A nice rocking number from an underrated hard rocking album, again with a nice instrumental coda. |

Great Expectations
Hell yes, of all the tracks coming from the new album this definitely the one I wanted to see more! Sadly the only prog song of the show, but I'm so happy I got to hear it live. The whole middle part onwards when it stops the pop and goes into the prog is amazeballs (and a Yes homage). |
11 | | Toto Fahrenheit
Without Your Love
I love this chilled number. Williams warned us to be prepared for a "cool surprise", what could it be? |
12 | | The Jimi Hendrix Experience Axis: Bold as Love
Little Wing
Without Your Love slowly turned into Little Wing, and Lukather went absolutely nuts. Literal minutes of sharp soloing and shredding. I went there with a hip hop buddy and he said "I have no idea what he is doing but I have goosebumps". |
13 | | Toto Toto XIV
Holy War
A catchy rocker with a proggy undertone, very pleasant and it put the show on track again after Lukather melted everyone before. |
14 | | Toto Tambu
The Road Goes On
A ballad to remember the legendary Jeff Porcaro. |
15 | | Toto Toto XIV
Orphan
Another rocker, love the drumming on this one. Lukather's on fire again. |
16 | | Toto Toto IV
Rosanna
Obviously. In live shows this gets typically stretched to 8-10 minutes by extending the jazz coda that starts at the end of the studio version. |
17 | | Toto 35th Anniversary Tour - Live In Poland
On the Run / Goodbye Elenore
Encore time. When Toto merges tracks together it's always a blast. |
18 | | Toto Toto IV
Africa
"Did we forget something?" asks Lukather. A fantastic way to close the show, I'm sure this lasted at least 10 minutes between extended bits and audiance interaction to sing it haha. |
