Radiohead: Superior Computer
Frankly, I was disappointed by OK Computer and preferred the more straightforward and vulnerable (?) style of Radiohead. As a result, I made my own version version of OK Computer that I prefer to the original album. I would almost rank this up there with The Bends in my book. I don't expect anyone to agree. Listening to these songs in this order will give you an interesting experience, at the very least. |
| 1 | Radiohead Airbag
This will always open any version of OK Computer. It's perfect for that purpose. |
| 2 | Polyethylene
Underrated Bends-style all-out rocker. Maybe not as personal as The Bends (song), but it almost matches its intensity. |
| 3 | Let Down
I must admit that this is one of the most perfect songs Radiohead ever committed to tape. |
| 4 | Palo Alto
We haven't seen this much loudness contrast between verse and chorus from Radiohead ever since. |
| 5 | Lull
This song is so incredibly relaxing! It kind of blew me away when I first heard it. |
| 6 | Paranoid Android
That classic song. I know it's supposed to segue in from the end of Airbag, but I also liked the effect it provided with the opening of Polyethylene. The original placement of the song would make me not bother listening to the album all the way through. (I do not like to deal with long tracks at the beginning for some reason.) |
| 7 | Subterranean Homesick Alien
Another admittedly great song from OK Computer. Love the vibe. |
| 8 | Electioneering
All of the "hardcore" fans will attack me for this, but I thought Electioneering was one of the strongest songs on the original album. It doesn't have to be complex and experimental for it to be great. This and Paranoid Android were the only songs on the original in which Radiohead actually let loose with the guitar ferocity. |
| 9 | Climbing Up The Walls
I still can't get over how much I love that scream at the end. Anyway, this is another classic song. I like to say it's like Fake Plastic Trees if Fake Plastic Trees was on every kind of drug at once. |
| 10 | No Surprises
This and Let Down were the only OK Computer songs that really hit me emotionally (some of the others did too, sometimes), and I love them both. |
| 11 | Karma Police
I struggled with deciding between this song and Pearly but ultimately chose Karma Police. |
| 12 | A Reminder
I can't even recall the tune of The Tourist. It was beautiful but not memorable. I found this song to be beautiful AND memorable. |
