06.07.15 | I personally dig New Vegas, great dialogue, general game play improvements (iron sights mother fucker), and a branching main quest.
Though 3 had the awesome VR mission. |
Snake.
06.07.15 | never played fallout 3 so new vegas |
SonofSnow
06.07.15 | Bruh definitely play through Fallout 3 at least once. There is a virtual reality mission halfway through that is worth the price of admission alone. |
CapnJizz
06.07.15 | I preferred new Vegas but both are great |
romulanrancor
06.07.15 | 3 easily. New Vegas is great but doesn't really compare to 3. |
TalonsOfFire
06.07.15 | Both are great but 3 all the way |
rufinthefury
06.07.15 | Fallout 3 it's not even close. |
LepreCon
06.07.15 | 3 is better but both are worth playing for sure. |
TheMagicalBlender
06.07.15 | New Vegas. Loved the factions, and hope it comes back in 4. |
Mesm277
06.07.15 | 3 is better, but too short |
rufinthefury
06.07.15 | and for people who are going to say NV had better gameplay I got 1 word for ya: mods. |
Gameofmetal
06.07.15 | That's honestly pretty hard to decide on. Each is superior in certain areas. For 3, I think the location is better suited to the post apocalyptic theme and the atmosphere is stronger, the main story is a bit stronger, and generally has the darker vibe that I preferred. New Vegas is a bit more carefree in not necessarily a bad way. There are more quests, which the lower number of in 3 was something that bothered me. There's also something just as satisfying about wandering the desert vs. the DC ruins. New Vegas was buggier tho. I hold them in near equal regard, with maybe 3 winning by a teeny decimal. The dlc from both are a must to really complete the game btw |
Tunaboy45
06.07.15 | 3 without a doubt, but the payoff is a bit disappointing |
beefshoes
06.07.15 | I never played through NV because it was effectively unplayable (for me) immediately following the release because of bugs. I'd like to eventually do a playthrough of it.
3 was awesome, but it didn't age all that well similar to Oblivion. |
rufinthefury
06.07.15 | psh cmon the final battle kicked ass and the DLC's keep you alive. the one thing i didnt like was the DLC where i got to fight hicks in scraps who were tougher than people in power armor. mah immersion |
Tunaboy45
06.07.15 | I find it difficult to play Oblivion now, it's just so dated |
Slut
06.07.15 | I'm honestly not sure |
Psynuts
06.07.15 | I liked new vegas more, was just more fun to play than 3. But I'd defend both games with my life. |
Gameofmetal
06.07.15 | Oblivion still wrecks
morrowind is a bit hard to play but ive never sunk much time into it before |
zakalwe
06.07.15 | I couldn't get on with the Elder Scrolls games at all whereas Fallout 3 and Vegas are two of the best games I've ever played.
Fallout 3 with its 50s retro nuclear family post apocalyptic dystopia is right up me alley. |
Gwyn.
06.07.15 | New Vegas is better in every single way imaginable |
Rsetness9
06.07.15 | 3 - better storyline and more connection with characters
plus more crazy stuff in f3 like Oasis |
TalonsOfFire
06.07.15 | So weird that oblivion and fallout 3 are almost 10 years old |
Gameofmetal
06.07.15 | Ikr, i was pretty surprised to realize skyrim was already four years old |
TalonsOfFire
06.07.15 | Yeah but that at least makes me happy cause it hopefully means another one is coming out within the next few years. |
Mesm277
06.07.15 | Fallout 3 was pretty much a perfect game for me. I don't care if people are moaning about the 4th game. They'll still buy it and it'll be good regardless |
Veldin
06.07.15 | New Vegas is technically better and more compelling, but FO3 is very distinctive and with mods on PC is probably the best game ever |
Mongi123
06.07.15 | Fallout 3 no contest. New Vegas is fucking awful. And no way in hell would I ever consider New Vegas technically better. Glitches galore man. |
demigod!
06.07.15 | new vegas is WAYY better. 3 had dumb writing, stories that go nowhere, empty characters, is linear as fuck and has terrible combat without vats. hell, even with vats the combat's nothing to write home about.... new vegas fixes everything |
Judio!
06.07.15 | I could see why people would say Fallout 3 is a better-made game, but New Vegas is just so much more fun. Both games rule though ya. |
Mongi123
06.07.15 | 3 had it's fair share of problems. Hell, Bethesda isn't the best developer in general when it comes to the technical stuff. But I just get agree with that in even the slightest. Everything about New Vegas was boring and poorly made. Just one thing out of many, how can I enjoy the game with the gun doing some sort of weird jolting moment in my hands? Really takes you out of the experience. 3 had glitches and lackluster writing too, but again, that's usually just Bethesda in general for me. |
Mongi123
06.07.15 | Max Payne 3>>> any fallout game now that someone brought it up but I do think Fallout 3 is pretty good. |
demigod!
06.07.15 | i can never go back to 3 after playing NV, it's just so dull and lifeless in comparison |
Mesm277
06.07.15 | Well it's a nuclear wasteland...it's kind of the point |
Pakulu
06.07.15 | "Max Payne 3>>> any fallout game now that someone brought it up but I do think Fallout 3 is pretty good"
Agreed. Idk, I just don't like soaking in hours of gameplay into a game... like Fallout 3. I tried it but never liked it for that reason. I guess I just like games with more structure... idk i'm boring
But yeah, New York Minute man |
Mongi123
06.07.15 | Even Skyrim, which is the best Bethesda game I've played so far, has kinda lifeless elements. Definitely better than the fallout games but still pretty glitchy and has repetitive elements when it comes to the dungeons you find. They make stunning environments but I find them to be very overrated developers overall. |
Pakulu
06.07.15 | fall out boy >> fallout 3 |
Mesm277
06.07.15 | It's the same with the subway system in fallout 3. It gets a bit tedious after a while when in D.C. |
Mongi123
06.07.15 | @Living Oh hell yea, the whole environment of Fallout in general is straight up stunning to me. Feels very real, definitely my favorite part of these games. |
demigod!
06.07.15 | yeah yeah it's a wasteland but that's no excuse for boring characters with little to no depth or personality. i agree with you about bethesda though, and thats probably why new vegas is so great-they had pretty much nothing to do with its development |
Gameofmetal
06.07.15 | "Even Skyrim, which is the best Bethesda game I've played so far, has kinda lifeless elements. I always thought the glitches were rather endearing when it comes to bethesda games |
Mesm277
06.07.15 | You do get immersed, I love when you first exit vault 101 and it "stuns" the character cause he sees sunlight for the first time. I love little bits like that |
Mongi123
06.07.15 | Lol I have to admit the Macho man randy savage and thomas the train dragon glitches make me pee my pants but still. |
Mesm277
06.07.15 | The android story is pretty decent actually |
Mongi123
06.07.15 | I liked the Wasteland Survival Guide quest a lot. Overall, there was really no quest I hated, but the only part about 3 I find amazing is the environment itself. I could just get lost in how beautifully bleak it is. |
Mesm277
06.07.15 | Yeah, the game pulls that off brilliantly, didn't really feel that with NV
EDIT. When Garza falls behind no fucks were given tbf |
Mongi123
06.07.15 | So how about those children running that town huh? That's fucked up haha |
Gwyn.
06.07.15 | Bethesda hasn't made anything amazing since like Morrowind
Skyrim and fo3 were alright but New Vegas shits on both combined |
Mongi123
06.07.15 | I thought Skyrim was relatively awesome and Fallout 3 was good. Oblivion was alright. |
Gwyn.
06.07.15 | Oblivion is one of my least favorite games of all time
I've never ever been more bored by a game
I liked the music tho |
Mesm277
06.07.15 | Oblivion bored me too. Skyrim was great, though |
Mongi123
06.07.15 | I'd definitely take The Elder Scrolls over Fallout, but I do favor the environment of fallout. |
Mesm277
06.07.15 | Yeah me too. I like the landscape of Skyrim and how awesome it looks but fuck me if there weren't any horses/fast travelling i'd never have gotten far |
WilsonTik
06.07.15 | Fallout : New Vegas was the better game but nothing in it came close to the moment where you walk out of the vault and see the wasteland for the first time . |
Psynuts
06.07.15 | thats because it was the first time, if fallout 3 didnt excist that first time would have been in new vegas. so pointless argument honestly |
SonofSnow
06.07.15 | I dunno I really like the uniqueness of the fallout world. It makes it harder for me to enjoy the elder scrolls games when it's a setting I've seen so many times. |
worthlessscab
06.07.15 | Fallout 3 had a better designed world but the linear story and dull characters got me bored way before finishing it. NV was the better game in terms of being an RPG - branching paths, interactive world that you can actually affect and fun characters and factions play made it much more enjoyable. Still not as cohesive as the 1st game or fun as the Monty Python's type insanity of the 2nd game. |
Gwyn.
06.08.15 | fo2 is better |
SonofSnow
06.08.15 | Couldn't get into the isometric games, they felt so clunky. |
AnimalsAsSummit
06.08.15 | i like fallout 3 best; creepy fucking game |
Rawmeeth38
06.08.15 | Fallout 3 because of nostalgia at this point. And the atmosphere is better. oh and the dlc is better. |
Rawmeeth38
06.08.15 | So excited for the new one |
Gameofmetal
06.08.15 | huh
i always thought new vegas was much less desolate and apocalyptic and more carefree |
worthlessscab
06.08.15 | it is. that dude's high |
Psynuts
06.08.15 | Yh las Vegas is hardly apocalyptic
|
DrGonzo1937
06.08.15 | F3 |
Psynuts
06.08.15 | ofc i meant new vegas |
Gwyn.
06.08.15 | New Vegas is not as apocalyptic what are you on about snide
in fact that's exactly why it's more fun it's less grey generic depression and more like actually fallout |
DrGonzo1937
06.08.15 | I did like the city in Vegas, definitely broke up the dead world. haha |
BigBlob
06.08.15 | mr moon is gay |
FearThyEvil
06.08.15 | New Vegas for me but both were amazing |
SonofSnow
06.08.15 | New Vegas had a fully functioning downtown, it was fucking awesome. |
demigod!
06.08.15 | yeah man stuff like that made the world feel so real and living. fallout 3's communities just felt like a bunch of robots by comparison |
romulanrancor
06.09.15 | New Vegas has Rex |
DrGonzo1937
06.09.15 | Both are great tbh. |
jmnewcomer18
09.26.15 | Bump
New Vegas was way better. Better and more developed characters (goodsprings, novac, Benny, MR. HOUSE) deeper and better written dialogue, a fully functional companion system, i could go on and on. Oh and the factions system was the best thing the Fallout series had to offer. 3 had a cliche ridden main story and the most dry characters and dialogue ive ever seen in an rpg.
