Pharoah Sanders - Karma, Black Unity Ornette Coleman - The Shape of Jazz to come John Coltrane - A Love Supreme, Blue Train, Giant Steps (you can't go wrong with Trane tbh) Miles Davis - Bitches Brew Eric Dolphy - Out to Lunch Sun Ra - any of his albums Alice Coltrane - Universal Consciousness Art Blakey - Moanin' Charles Mingus - Let my children hear music, Ah Um, Black Saints and Sinners (an especially good artist to listen to in preparation for the Kamasi album, really fantastic mix of Avant Jazz and Classical arrangements)
