Jazzdevi

Ok, so I wanna have a crack at the 3 hour Kasami Washington album. But, the thing is jazz is a /huge/ musical blind spot for me. I have basically no experience with it, know pretty much nothing about it and I haven't quite got the taste for it yet. I've tried stuff out before, kinda unsure as to if I enjoy it or not, ergo I don't really know how to fully appreciate it. I know this probably sounds stupid as fuck considering it's just a genre and writing it out it kinda sounds ridiculous to me as well, but could you help a brother out and give me a good place to start? I'll fill this list up to 10 so I have something to chew on.
