5 favorite stoner rock-ish albums

Most stoner rock albums tend to bore me but these are my favorites.
1Kyuss
Welcome to Sky Valley

I've been a steady QOTSA fan since I was maybe 12 or 13. For a while they didn't put out anything, so I checked out Homme's old band. At first I appreciated it for being different, but I wrote it off for being music that's only cool when you're really baked. But more and more I listened to it and baked or not, it became one of my favorite albums of all time. I think there was this one time I was working at my old job listening to it on my ipod and that was the first time I realized the true sonic brilliance of WTSV.
2Torche
Meanderthal

I've heard about these guys over and over and finally I decided to check them out. I'm glad I went with this one first. The songs are incredible here. When I first heard the intro "Triumph of Venus" it really made me smile and the second song "Grenades" became my 2015 anthem. I like the pop punky vocals that are still raw and not overproduced at all. in fact, the raw production of this album is also one of the best parts. Most songs are like 3 minutes, and some are only a minute and a half, while a few tracks on the end are longer and more layered like "Fat Waves" and "Amnesia".
3Baroness
Blue Record

Say what you want about this band, but I really like em. I even own the double cd for Yellow and Green, but Blue Record is the perfect middle ground between Red album (which is heavier sludgey stuff) and Y&G (practically indie rock). It starts with a beautiful intro with nice guitar layers, it kinda reminds me of one that would appear on one of Metallica's early albums but way cooler. The second song "The Sweetest Curse" is a good introduction to the real sound of Baroness: punky stoner rmetal with unique sounding guitar riffs. My favorite one of theres would have to be the trippy one in "Swollen and Halo". That whole song is a brilliant representation of proggy punk metal. Also one of the cool things is that the beautiful intro reprises a few times, once in the middle and again at the close of the album which couldn't have been a better way to close it in my opinion.
4Truckfighters
Phi

I don't have as much to say about this one because I've only been listening for a few days but check it out, it gets crazy. It's almost progressive and stoner at the same time. A lot of times when they can end the song, instead they just keep going. Great fuzz bass too.
5Queens of the Stone Age
Queens of the Stone Age

Really the only QOTSA album that could be considered stoner rock. "Regular John" is the most simple yet effective stoner rock riff. I've listened to this one a lot in the past so I know it pretty well. "Avon" and "You can't quit me baby" are other highlights. QOTSA wasn't really destined to continue stoner rock, and you can tell Homme was running out of old Kyuss riffs so its good they became more "alternative" with their subsequent releases.
