20 Random Albums I Adore
Yeah. |
| 1 | | Abyssal Denouement
Top-Tier Caverncore. I love the dissonance on this thing. |
| 2 | | Bolt Thrower Those Once Loyal
Their best album, end of discussion. Pretty much perfect from beginning to end. |
| 3 | | Breach Venom
All three of their LP's are amazing. This one is a personal favorite. Something about this band is magical. |
| 4 | | Celeste Misanthrope(s)
I can't explain the love I have for this band. This style of French sludge is so up my alley it's not even funny. |
| 5 | | Dan Swano Moontower
Everyone knows this rules. A one man project done to near perfection. |
| 6 | | Deluge Grander August in the Urals
I usually avoid modern prog like the plague, but fuck this album is amazing. It doesn't sound retro, but their style is very pleasing to the ear. |
| 7 | | Emperor Prometheus: The Discipline of Fire...
The best Emperor album. Ihsahn's masterpiece. |
| 8 | | The Fall of Troy Doppelganger
How does anyone think their debut is better? No, seriously. |
| 9 | | Forgotten Tomb Songs to Leave
Aside from Shining, the perfect DSBM band. Their follow-up is phenomenal as well. |
| 10 | | Funebrarum The Sleep of Morbid Dreams
The perfect modern death metal album. |
| 11 | | John Mayer Where The Light Is
This is a pretty unbelievable concert. To say the man is talented is an understatement. This easily beats out any of his studio albums and pretty much encompasses his career perfectly. |
| 12 | | Mihai Edrisch L'un Sans L'Autre
I pretty much detest the emo genre as a whole and have never heard a single album I could stomach. Until I heard this. How I can love an emo album this much still surprises me. And to think two of these dudes later formed Celeste. Two bands, two massive achievements. |
| 13 | | Morcheeba Who Can You Trust?
Massively underrated. 3rd best trip-hop after Mezzanine and Portishead s/t. |
| 14 | | Norma Jean Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child
Beautiful album. Probably the best use of dissonance I've ever heard. |
| 15 | | The Obsessed The Obsessed
Fucking Wino. Pure rock'n'roll that's catchy as hell. |
| 16 | | Oranssi Pazuzu Muukalainen Puhuu
Don't care for their other albums, but damn, this is a spacy, psychedelic adventure. |
| 17 | | Puscifer C is for...
The best and also the only good Puscifer release. Short but absolutely mesmerizing. |
| 18 | | Sun Ra Lanquidity
I'll be honest, Sun Ra's discography is mostly self-indulgent mumbo-jumbo. This, however, is one of the most beautiful, atmospheric, trippy albums I've ever heard. Like a more chilled out Bitches Brew. |
| 19 | | Terje Rypdal Odyssey
The production is a bit questionable, but Terje Rypdal makes some gorgeous music and this is his best, most balanced album. The third disc, Unfinished Highballs, is fantastic as well. |
| 20 | | Watain The Wild Hunt
Not really a big Watain fan, but this is an example of when a band branches out and tries new things and it just fucking works. |
