Jots 02.05.15	it calls to question what a 'review summary' should do, if anything. i personally don't care if it actually summarizes the review, as I enjoy reading the review in its entirety if it's well-written enough. i suppose a decent summary should catch your eye, and provoke you to read and see what the hubbub is about.

NakedSnake 02.05.15	Whenever I see a lyric as the review summary, I always read it with a really profound sounding voice in my head. I think it works often, like with Sunbather. But it definitely is a trope around here.
TumsFestival 02.05.15	@howmany I feel like using them in reviews is fine since lyrical content is important, but a line from a song isn't enough to summarize an entire album most of the time.
VaxXi 02.05.15	I would hope people are reading the ACTUAL REVIEW and not the summary for their fix on people's thoughts about an album.

StallionMang 02.05.15	It works when the lyric being quoted is used to describes the album or the reviewer's thoughts on the album, otherwise yeah it's a copout
Trebor. 02.05.15	Summaries to me are just supposed to be eye catching and appetizing like my last one was about how Title Fight were being all weird and shitty so I used "get your head out of the ceiling fan" which is a play on their song from floral green that's actually good so it has like multiple meanings and yeah idk what I'm saying I just had a lot of coffee

TumsFestival 02.05.15	and yeah treb i got you. obviously when there is meaning behind the lyrics being used, whether it be explaining where the band is stylistically or what have you, it means something and it's there for a reason.
SharkTooth 02.05.15	for my Methadone Skies-Eclectic Electric review, I used lyrics from the Primus song of the same name as the album I reviewed as a joke for people to pick up on(not sure if anyone did tho)

HalcyonMusic 02.05.15	How else am I supposed to feel clever after finding a lyrical double meaning that doesn't actually mean anything at all. Then again I've quoted lyrics from a different artist as a review summary before so I'm probably the most tragic example of this trend.

tempest-- 02.05.15	I'd prefer some lyrics than a line literally copy pasted from the review that's like "Megadeth's third album was a let down after the amazing Peace Sells... But Who's Buy then it gets cut off because of the character limit like fuckin hell seriously and if they're lyrics that actually reflect the review then even better

dimsim3478 02.05.15	only do it if it says something important about the album, obviously. why else would you put lyrics in the "summary" section? also i agree it's lazy but only when the reviewer does it all the time. [2] because there's usually always something in the lyrics that you can relate to your idea of the album. use sparingly, because it loses its effect when you do it all the time.
SharkTooth 02.05.15	My personal favorite lyric review summary would be from Jacob Royal's review of Foals-Holy Fire, "I can't get enough... SPACE!" It's so accurate it's hilarious
TheSupernatural 02.05.15	^Same, that's the only song I remember from that album but it's damn good and right as he shouts "SPACE!" the whole thing comes together with one of the best riffs ever
Sowing 02.05.15	I'm definitely guilty of this. Sometimes it makes more sense than others, but I've been trying to move away from the trend of lyrics in the summary.
