12 Hidden Gems Of 2014
2014 was a fantastic year, but a lot of albums didn't get the recognition they deserved. Here are 12 of my favorite "overlooked" albums of the year that you guys may have missed. |
1 | | Earth and Pillars Earth I
3.7 - atomospheric bm (nothing i haven't heard before but done exceptionally well |
2 | | PVRIS Acoustic
3.9 - acoustic alt rock with emotion and atmosphere (RIYL: paramore) |
3 | | Somos Temple of Plenty
3.8 - emo/alt rock. yes i reviewed it but it still never got as much love as it should have. |
4 | | Ainulindale Nevrast
3.7 - definitely a more upliting kind of neofolk album inspired by works of Tolkien |
5 | | Deep Mountains Lake of Solace
3.7 - not quite as good as their last one but still a great atmospheric bm release |
6 | | Dornenreich Freiheit
3.7 - really nice blend of black metal and neofolk |
7 | | Weatherbox Flies in All Directions
3.5 - alt rock in a very similar vein as Say Anything. Surprised this wasn't more loved by sput |
8 | | Molly and the Zombies Molly and the Zombies
3.5 - Brian Fallon's project was probably better than the gaslight anthem's last album but never gained much recognition |
9 | | Sangre de Muerdago & Novemthree Braided Paths
4 - one of the most overlooked splits of 2014 is also one of the best. if you like Agalloch or dark folk in general you should enjoy this |
10 | | Trophy Eyes Mend, Move On
3.9 - a fantastic punk rock album that should have made it to more year-end lists |
11 | | Disemballerina Undertaker
3.5 - one of the most bizarre and intriguing neofolk albums of 2014, even if it wasn't the best it's worth checking out if not just for how different it is |
12 | | Asya Sergeeva Heart of Winter
4.2 - saving the best for last. Asya Sergeeva is a harp player who plays neofolk with Celtic influences and a ton of variety and emotion is to be found here. It only has 1 vote so please listen to this gem |
