| 2014's Honorable Mentions
There were a few albums that came out this past year that, while not being my favorite releases, needed special acknowledgment. | | 1 | | Movies Horror Movies
Horror Movies is Movies first full length release, and it is filled with catchy emotive tracks with a few zingers organically thrown in to keep things interesting. | | 2 | | Sleep In. Settling
The pleasantly-surprising-ly adept debut album by Sleep In. sees the band finding the sweetest of sweet spots between pop punk and "emo revival" or whatever you want to call it. | | 3 | | Copeland Ixora
It's beautiful, that's about all I need to say about this. It's downright gorgeous. Ordinary was one of the best songs of the year. | | 4 | | Closure In Moscow Pink Lemonade
I remember being really hype about First Temple when it came out. After giving that a huge amount of listens, I had very little to hold me over until 2014's Pink Lemonade. Though the sound is hugely different, Closure in Moscow is still clearly insane, energetic, and fun as helllllllllll. Pink Lemonade is a delicious, magical journey from start to finish. | | 5 | | Sun Kil Moon Benji
Mark Kozelek and company's latest release features the most unified set of songs the group has released yet. Once listeners have gotten accustomed to Kozelek's unique delivery, it's hard to listen to anything other than his incredibly detailed yet strikingly human and organic stories. | |
