Awesome Albums From 2014!!!!!!!!!

Its that time of year again!!!!!!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS
10Anberlin
Lowborn

I'll be real, this wasn't what I wanted it to be. Anberlin was the first band that I really loved
and set me on the path that I am still on musically today, so my expectations were obviously
high. Well this album does have its weaknesses, it delivers on many, many occasions. By the
time 'Harbinger' roles around, I just get all the feels.... A very personal choice and not
perfect, but still worthy album in the Anberlin Legacy.
9Dope Body
Lifer

This album is completely BADASS. The riff on 'Hired Gun' is filthy, distorted gold! In a year of
adventurous guitar epics, Dope Body finds inspiration in past, making one of the best grunge
albums this side of In Utero
8St. Vincent
St. Vincent

I know, I know, EVERYONE and their mom loves this album. But c'mon, it's gotten the
attention it has for a reason. It's a daring and adventurous guitar album, one that goes from
pleasant pop to all out insanity at the drop of a hat. One of the most acclaimed albums of the
year, but for a good reason
7A Sunny Day in Glasgow
Sea when Absent

I unabashedly love this album. It has such a good attitude! It seems so intense, yet so chill
and at peace. It sounds beautiful as well, blasting noise along with gentle synths, sometimes
within the space of one song. Excellent album, truly worth a listen

This is all yours

This album really surprised me. I really wasn't too keen on an Awesome Wave (intrigued, but
not particularly fond). However, by the time the vocals kicked in on 'Intro,' I was hooked. This
album walks and swaggers, each soft moment looking towards the next explosive chorus. The
medieval instrumentation was nice as well (I'm a sucker for that kind of thing)
5Timber Timbre
Hot Dreams

This album is creepy as hell. Even the lush and blissful single 'Hot Dreams' (one of my
favorite tracks of the year) has horrifying undertones. An atmospheric, haunting, and engaging
listen through and through
4White Suns
Totem

Totem is easily the most punishing album this year, even compared to 'To be kind.' Its
mixture of abrasive vocals, violent beats, and insane guitar screeches is unparalleled in the
modern music scene. Amazingly, the cacophony actually is powerful and effecting, not just
noisy. One of the more intriguing listens of the year.
3Weezer
Everything will be alright in the End

I really got into Pinkerton this past fall. I listened to El Scorcho a couple of times a day for a
solid month. And while this album does soar quite like Blue or Pinkerton, it still impresses in a
way that Weezer hasn't done in around a decade. Sure, 'Back to the Shack' is dumb as a mud
fence, but its catchy as hell and mildly well written. But its on songs like 'Cleopatra' and the final Trilogy
suggest that Weezer has finally outgrown its perpetual adolescence and grown up a little bit. I
really, really enjoyed this one
2Casualties of Cool
Casualties of Cool

Another blinding twist, I know. This album is a gorgeous blend of atmosphere and chicken
pickin' licks. Genre wise I suppose this is post-country or something like that. Excellent
album, very cohesive and beautiful listen

To Be Kind

Okay, you all saw this coming, but seriously! Even though I didn't like it quite as much as the
Seer, To Be Kind kicks all kind of ass, whether its the insanity of 'A little god in my hands' to
the all out profanity of 'She loves us.' To Be Kind is an essential album from this past year
